Counting Math Games

Use these simple games to practise counting skills:

Timebomb - simple counting, but watch out for the number 12!
Group Game - simple counting, works great in the gym
Rocket Launch - a fun way to remember numbers backwards!

Sums Games:
You choose the questions. Simple things like "What's 2 + 2?", "What's the next number; 2, 4, 6, ?" "What's a half plus a quarter" or any other topic you happen to be studying!

Newspaper Sumo - brilliant for asking questions
Balloon Game - can you keep the balloon in the air whilst keeping the sums going....
Ladders Game - sometimes dangerous, but fun!
Karuta - fast-action running game from Japan
Criss Cross - quick warm up, all ages
Island Hopping - racing across the floor. Great for addition and subtraction.
Shiritori - a fun way of writing out sums on the board
Sticky Fingers - very easy, very active and no preparation
Ostrich Game - 2 people at a time battle game!
Koala Game - great for team work
Stopwatch - try and beat the clock
Bargaining Game - fun numbers, basic economics and shopping practice

String Game - very fun, winding string as you do the math

You can also use these games with questions from any other subject.
But remember the golden rule "Losing doesn't mean losing, it's just another chance to try again!". This way the kids will always be wanting to learn more!
