Help Please: Baby Rabbit Family!

Next week I’m doing another very low incomeΒ project for schools in South India, and we can’t use Β The Baby Monkey Family over there.

So after their rousing success in the Do you have any brothers or sisters? song, the Baby Rabbit Family are back and bigger than before!

But …. it would really help reduce my stress levelsΒ if you could check the software (typing/spelling mistakes, broken buttons etc,) to make sure there are no mistakes and let me know in the comments.

The song and lesson plan (e.g. sticky fingers game!) are just the same, as they are all tested and work really well, but I’ve just changed the characters – this time we have Β a Grandpa! – and also added, hopefully, lots of easy to use bits to the software.

Do you find them useful?

To download the software,

1. Right click on this link “Baby Rabbit Family” and select “save as”

2. You can then drag the file to your browser to see the software!

If you’d like me to find a way to add this to the regular download pack (maybe an option from CD 2’s Baby Monkey Family?) let me know in the comments and I’ll see what I can do!

UPDATE: See below!

(If you’re not a VIP member yet, you can get your Download Pack now and help too.)

There are also A4 picture cards:

As always, thank you so much for your help and I really look forward to hearing your feedback!

Enjoy!

Be genki,

Richard

P.S. Β Yes I am still working on a whole new family theme, but hopefully this will fill the gaps for now!

UPDATE: Here’s how to add the Rabbit Family to the regular Download Pack!

1. Back Β up your download pack – because you know something will go wrong somewhere!

2. Right click, select “save as” and save the following file to your download pack:

https://genkienglish.net/clipart/RABBIT.SWF

3. Do the same with this new Vol. 2 menu file. Β This time say “OK” when it asks if you can overwrite the file:

https://genkienglish.net/clipart/CD2MENU.SWF

You’ll now have a very funky new vol. 2 menu that should look like this! πŸ™‚

Please do tell your friends if you like getting free updates like this! πŸ™‚

(And I will have an update offer for the CD versions once I get back from India)

Richard Graham

Hello, I'm Richard Graham. When I was a kid I found school to be sooooo boring... So I transformed my way of teaching. I listened to what the kids were really wanting to say and taught it in ways they really wanted to learn. The results were magical. Now I help teachers just like you teach amazing lessons and double your incomes!

Went through the whole thing, including testing all buttons, and I didn’t find anything amiss. Looks (and sounds) great. As always, fantastic work!

    Thank you, thank you! πŸ™‚

I’ve just checked everything with my 2 kids (8 and 5) and everything seems to work… Maria Sole (my daughter) finds that the rabbit family “is so cute”. So… it should work very well, especially with girls πŸ™‚ I’ve just started teaching them GE and they are already so interested, especially in games. I am very surprised about how much it works and pays off

  4. richard

Thanks Babi, and great to get the feedback from your kids! Please tell them thank you!

Hopefully the boys might be into the dinosaurs or space adventurers to come! πŸ™‚

  5. babi

Actually they already love all of the characters, and of course they want to play the games πŸ™‚
Very, very, very good job Richard!!

  6. Dulce

Hello Richard, It’s very cute,a wonderful job as always. I found a little detail, in the words it is indicated the numbers 1 to 9 and each number works individually isn’t it? the number eight I guess is from: This is my… and when I put on it the mouse it doesnΒ΄t say and mark anything and all the rest of the words work great. I don’t know may be you did it suitable.
Guau, you’re amazing. Sorry if I have spelling mistakes but I’m learning english of course with genki english too. Greetings.

    Hi Dulce,

Thank you very much! I included the “This is my …” into each phrase to avoid confusion with “This is me!” But very well spotted – this is just the sort of thing I like people picking up! πŸ™‚

    Keep up the good work!

When I click the Menu button, I get a blank page. (I’m not sure what is supposed to happen.) I have to close the window and reopen in order to get back to the non-blank page. Also, is anything supposed to happen when you click Yes after clicking Quit? Nothing does. Very nice job.

Hi Janice, well spotted! Those should hopefully work when I get it included in the regular pack, hopefully I’ll have it done this week and I’ll add it on to the post here!

    Thank you!

    Hi Richard,
thanks for including grandpa this time. We had many questions and discussions why Baby Monkey has no grandpa…
I’m sure “my” kids will love this one – too bad only grandma and grandpa are not included in the song…
Thanks for another wonderful tool to recap the family vocab!

  11. Mark Armstrong

Thank you so much Richard. Each new lesson is just another tool in my toolbox. It’s so appreciated.

  12. Janet Gray

It all looks very good–I see no mistakes. Of course, the word ” mum” isn’t what we use in the United States.

  13. Valentina

I agree, itΒ΄s really cute. After introducing the family members one by one, when all the members of the family appear I expected to hear them saying the sentence: We are the Baby Rabbit Family. Great work as usual. Thanks a lot.

  14. Julie

Hi Richard, I always look forward to receiving your E-Mails, thanks for this new version of the Family. That Grandpa was missing in the Monkey Family always caused a comment or two. I’m planning to use the Rabbit Family as a revision tool. Has Baby rabbit the same voice as Baby Monkey, or am I mistaken? Everything seems well with this software but not with the CD 2 update download. The Rabbit Family and Fruit Market are the only parts of the menu which work. With the rest, I get a blank yellow screen. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the other software updates which in the last months have been made available for down loading. These are very much appreciated and in some cases already used. Well done and a big thank you! Julie

Thank you everyone – having all this feedback so quickly has really helped the scheduling with the India project, I promise to bring you lots of updates once I get on the ground next week!

@Julie: Not sure what the problem is there, maybe trying it again from the backups might work?

And for those of you who were wondering, here’s Grandpa Monkey!

  16. Gumby

Thanks for this, Richard. I like having both versions. One of course with grandpa, but I like having the option of teaching it again (more reps) without grandpa, just to show that families can come in different forms.

One comment, in the book, there should be a comma when you combine sentences. ie This is my mum, and this is my dad. I think this is in two places.

  17. richard

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

  18. Roger

    Hi Richard,
thanks for the family update. The only mistake I found was in the vol. 2 menu, when you hover the mouse over the rabbit family is says my name is baby monkey. I tried to hover the mouse over it differnt ways and it still says baby monkey. Btw, hope you’re having fun in India!

  19. richard

πŸ™‚ Thank you Roger, I never even thought to check that! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Not in India yet – still getting the visa – I might have to fly to London to get it!!

  20. Margit

    Sorry to be late here.

Richard, thanks a lot working on this. It was one of the very few topics in GE that I was having problems teaching.
This one seems much much more simple to me, I think it will be easier to teach and for the kids to understand.
I still agree with gumby to have both versions, for same reasons.

I know I’m late in responding but I didn’t have a chance to review it til now.
First of all, Thank you for the upgrade, I absolutely love it and I know my kids will too.

In the book, the use of both singular and plural articles is a great added grammar point (this and these). I noticed that when I press the speaker symbol a red X appears…Is that supposed to be the mute mode? It stops the reader if you press it but when you change pages the volume is on again. is that how it should be’
another thing the quit button still doesn’t work (Mac user).
thanks for the great art work on the printable material…I’ll use it to review the verb to wear and the different clothing items…Thanks!!!!
    Nena
