I’m sure quite a lot of you will have been lucky enough to find a shiny new flat screen TV in many of your classrooms. And I’m equally sure many teachers will not know how to use it!
So to cure that, let’s show you how to connect your laptop to the TV to get the Genki English digital picture cards, animations and games onto the big screen and through the nice TV speakers!
Just show the video to a computer teacher and they’ll be able to hook you up with the right cables.
It’s so much easier than carrying round a huge bag of picture cards and, best of all, the kids absolutely love it!

My city (Toda) got them in every classroom from this year – although they do mostly get used for hanging things from. They make lessons super easy though – no more messing around setting up projectors and speakers every lesson.
Our school is being renovated. We removed it into a “mobile school” (we are not allowed to call it a container school). We don’t have much of anything – me using my laptop is about as avant garde as it can get.

My classroom uses a projector. The picture is a lot bigger due to the size of the screen, but the screen has gotten marked up over the years. Not to mention that every time the projector bulb goes out, we have to wait a week for a new one to come in. A nice flat screen would be the solution.
But yeah, everyone should be using one. Don’t know how I would teach my kids without a computer!
