International Talk Like a Pirate Day – Pirates of the Coloured Beards!

Tomorrow is International Talk Like a Pirate Day.

Which means it’s a fantastic excuse to get out all the Pirate lessons!

The first, and best of the lot, is the “Pirates of the Coloured Beards” – a brilliant intro to colours/colors for new kids, or a fantastic review for older kids!

Just check out the green beard at the end! πŸ™‚

Full Lesson Plan & Prinatables are here: Β https://genkienglish.net/colouredbeards.htm

Treasure Adventure!

And the second Pirate Lesson is the Phonics “ure” themed “Treasure Adventure.

It’s also great if you have to do any tests where kids have to explain a scene with “There’s a ….”

Plus look out for the sharks at the end!

(Needless to say the kids get slightly more into it! πŸ™‚ )

Full Lesson Plan and Printables are here:Β https://genkienglish.net/treasureadventure.htm

If you’ve used any of these themes or if you have any great suggestions for games to go with them do let us know in the comments! Else you’ll be walking the plank tomorrow!

Hello, I'm Richard Graham. When I was a kid I found school to be sooooo boring... So I transformed my way of teaching. I listened to what the kids were really wanting to say and taught it in ways they really wanted to learn. The results were magical. Now I help teachers just like you teach amazing lessons and double your incomes!

Hi Richard, your pirates lessons gave the inspiration to do a pirate theme for some half term workshops. As well as the 2 lessons that you have mentioned I’ve added on a “Find the missing treasure” (building on the directions lessons), “Pirates disguise” (different clothes) “Wanted dead or alive” (describing the pirate…he has (+body features). Various adaptations to various games eg Ninjas and Solders, becomes Pirates and Sailors to capture the gld treasure. lots of fun.
