Richard Graham

Hello, I'm Richard Graham. When I was a kid I found school to be sooooo boring... So I transformed my way of teaching. I listened to what the kids were really wanting to say and taught it in ways they really wanted to learn. The results were magical. Now I help teachers just like you teach amazing lessons and double your incomes!

Thank you! With these pictures I can teach the song to little ones! Great art work!

Hi Richard, Feedback on images: 1. can you show a stack of envelopes beside Father Xmas (so the kids can count the letters written) 2. Different colour noses on the reindeer ! 3. Move the hand over to reveal more of the third stocking on the chimney and please make them different colours. Maybe add some other small things on the fireplace for additional discussion points 4. Toys – please add robots and video games – by far the most popular items from your previous xmas game. : Separately none of my kids knew who was SANTA CLAUS – but they know Father Christmas – so had to explain he has many names. Maybe you can have one image with father xmas wearing labels Papa noel, Father Xmas, Santa Claus etc!

  4. Richard

Thanks everyone and thanks for the specifics Sandra – let’s see what we can do!

RE Santa, I’ve been recommending doing the regular Genki Christmas song first as we cover most of the nouns and it’s just a case of adding the verbs!

Looks good. Look forward to getting animation! Nice pictures. And great series of new conversational Christmas questions.

  7. Nena

    I’ve got a question:
how many elfs does Richard have??? Great job!

One more tiny request…Black and white picture to color …PLEASE!
    THANKS,
    Nena

PS: I used the song in two lessons. The first went great, the second not so much…I want to try it again with the pictures!
    I absolutly love the song!

Since I have to teach Christmas to kids who have been coming to my lessons for a long time, any new Christmas material is awesome. Add my super big thanks to the list of comments. Thanks Richard!

  9. Margit

Finally I took a break and listened to this. It is awesome. It connects to the other stuff already there, but is a touch higher level and some grammar we hadn’t had so far.
I’m looking forward to using it~ next year.

Unfortunately it was a touch too late for me. I think with normal Christmas lessons, the timing is perfect, but as I do a little performance for the parents in church every year, I need to get the plan out right after Halloween and start working with the kids latest midst of November. So, this would be my wish for next year, if you will have something new coming out, please put it out slightly earlier, if you can. But it is fine to know already what to do next year!!!

    Nice pictures; love the elves!

Thanks for these pictures! I think visual always make such a difference, and GE are so memorable. Students always remember the small details.

I noticed a few differences on the lyric sheet. For example the word order of the song is different than the order of the pictures on the last row. Also the lyrics as ‘gifts to buy’ while the picture says ‘presents to buy’

This is another great song to add to the already extensive Christmas list. It is nice to have something new to use each year! Thank you.

  11. Richard

Thanks for the pickup Gumby – I’d uploaded an earlier version! All fixed now!

@Margit: Yeah, the problem is I never get inspired to write the Christmas stuff until it actually becomes Christmas! 🙂
I’m also slightly worried that there might be too many Christmas songs! 🙂

  12. Richard

@Nena: Just one elf Alyssa doing the graphics here! 🙂

  13. Natalia

Your course is great! It works with all kinds of students. Thank you very much, indeed!

  14. Martina

Love the song Richard!. On the 2nd line of the first verse of the work book page, the word “days” is written twice. otherwise great effort. Appreciate all the new, excellent material you always make available at these times of the year.

  15. Charlie

Thanks Richard – fantastic pictures – great for counting and chatting!

  16. Richard

Thank you everyone for all your amazing feedback, here is your animation!! 🙂

    1. Safely back up your Download Pack / USB ( because you know *something* will go wrong somewhere!)

    2. There are 2 files for this. Right click each one and select “save as”

    http://genkienglish.net/clipart/XMASDAYS.SWF
    http://genkienglish.net/clipart/CD10MENB.SWF

    3. Copy the files into your Download Pack / USB folder (overwriting the previous version)

Now when you click on the Pink Christmas menu you’ll have another icon for the “How many days till Christmas?” song!

    Hope you like it! 🙂

  17. Irene

    Hi!
Great pictures for small kids. I think it can be taught to older kids also(9-11 years old) and I wonder if there could be a tab /section of pictures for “older kids” to grab their attention, special to difficult kids who have themselves created the wrong idea that English is boring and difficult.

  18. gumby

OK, I’m already one blog behind so you may have already fixed this, but when I downloaded the link yesterday, I didn’t get any sound when I clicked on the words. The song worked itself however was great!

I loved the way the software automatically put up today’s date during the song.

    Thanks again, Richard!

  19. Richard

Yeah, only had time to do the animation!

  20. Kobekid

great song and video! It’s like this just appeared out of nowhere… 5th and 6th graders get ready for a new Christmas song!

  21. Richard

Yes, some songs take years to get right, this we worked flat out and got it done in two weeks!

  22. Sandra Arthur

Thanks Richard – will use this exercise on Wednesday this week – will provide feedback later! Great addition to your set.

  23. Rachel

Just logged on to prep my final classes for today and found the link to this song in my email….fantastic!!
New, fresh, different, with worksheet…what more could a terribly tired teacher ask for on last day of term!!!
    Thankyou!!

  24. Donna oszwald

The song has a catchy tune and the video is so, so colourful! The pictures are the icing on the cake. Had a great time teaching it with lots of gestures. Lots of verbs and vocabulary make it a bit more sophisticated for 4th graders.
