Good ALTs use Genki English …

Here’s a video clip of a TV news report from last year highlighting the difference between ALTs ( Assistant Language Teachers – the generic term for foreign teachers of English in public schools in Japan) who are hired by the growing number of dispatch companies, compared with being directly hired by the schools or Boards of Educations.

The show has the usual TV trick of overΒ dramatisingΒ a few select cases for shock value, but when they show the example of how things should Β be done, the ALT is, of course, using Genki English! ; )

Hat tip to Pat from Englipedia for the heads up!

Richard Graham

Hello, I'm Richard Graham. When I was a kid I found school to be sooooo boring... So I transformed my way of teaching. I listened to what the kids were really wanting to say and taught it in ways they really wanted to learn. The results were magical. Now I help teachers just like you teach amazing lessons and double your incomes!
