How to hire great teachers!

Once you get to a certain size, around say 100 to 150 students, it’s no longer feasible to teach more students on your own.

I know, I used to teach 100s & 1000s of kids and it got to be quite unsustainable!

That’s actually why I started Genki English, Β I figured I can’t help that many more kids directly, Β but if I could help teachers then that way I could help more kids!

Now I don’t recommend you start Genki English – that’s been 27 years of very hard work! πŸ™‚

Instead I’d recommend one of two choices:

One is to stay where you are as a solo boutique English teacher. Β  You can earn a fantastic income, have amazing work life balance and be very fulfilled doing this. Β It is one of the best options out there.

Or the next option is to think about hiring more teachers!

Now this is the big league – because you’re no longer a teacher but now also a manager. Β  Β  And my biggest advice for this is …. don’t hire 1, 2, 3 or even 4 new teachers. Β  Because you’ll end up being a full time teacher & a full time manager! Β  The former is fun, Β the latter not so much!

Instead, in business we have the “Rule of 7s”, Β in that many teachers try and find one other teacher who is as good as them and inevitably ends up feeling disappointed because they can’t find anyone as good! Β  Which is not surprising because you are awesome!

And it will usually take 7 people to do as much as you do!

(Yes, you really are that awesome.)

And luckily 7 people is also the right number of people that allow you to also hire someone to manage them. Β  Β So you have 7 teachers with one manager. Β And then you are the CEO – your job isn’t to work in the engine room (although you can teach if you want), your job is to guide ship to its new destination!

Then you move to 7 x 7 teachers with 7 managers and a school director. Β  But that’s maybe a little further along!

So if finding 1 or 2 new teachers is hard, Β how can you possible hire 7 amazing teachers?

Well, the solution is not to hire teachers at all!

Plus you need 4 different types of interview for the people you do hire.

And that’s what we cover inΒ Module 5 of the Genki Business Course. Β

So yes, the course can work wonders for solo teachers. Β  But it’s also a game changer if you hire other people to teach in your school.

Even up to that 7 x 7 model, you’re going to find this incredible useful – and save you a lot of stress!

Current course enrollment finishes this week – soΒ I look forward to seeing you in there!

And of course, ask away if you have any questions!

Be genki,
