Mr Monkey’s Magic Corner was really popular last year, and I’ve been looking for other ideas to use in class. Even just one good magic trick can keep a class enthused for a whole year.

Today I’m very glad to say I’ve found one, and it is soooo good! It’s really easy to learn (10 minutes practice on the train!) and I use it to help teach the How many? song. It’s called “Mr Rabbit.”

I’m not that good at it yet, but here’s a video and a link to Amazon to show you how it works… I think you’ll like it!

You can buy Mr Rabbit (γƒŸγ‚Ήγ‚ΏγƒΌγ€€γƒ©γƒ“γƒƒγƒˆ) on Amazon or Tokyu Hands, it’s a bargain!

Richard Graham

Hello, I'm Richard Graham. When I was a kid I found school to be sooooo boring... So I transformed my way of teaching. I listened to what the kids were really wanting to say and taught it in ways they really wanted to learn. The results were magical. Now I help teachers just like you teach amazing lessons and double your incomes!

Wow, I think you are really good at it!!
I got my Mr Rabbit and have been practicing it. I think I’m improving. I no longer look like a rabbit torturer. (I hope!)
Maybe I can use Mr Rabbit in my adjective lesson too? I just change one small rabbit into a big one. (It’s easier for me!) Showing a small rabbit, I’ll ask “Is it big?” “Is it small?”, then elicit “No, it’s not big.” “Yes, it’s small.” from kids. Then Magic!
Or do you think I should keep Mr Rabbit only for “How many ?” lesson in order not to reduce kids’ interest?
The effect of magic is great. And Genki English itself is magic to my students.

Hi CJ, nice to hear from you!
The Ritornellp site has a newsletter with some nice stuff in it, it’s right at the end of the products pge.

Yumiko: I think it’s great to add “Is it big or small?” or “How big is it?” or any other language the the trick. The whole point is to try and elicit some extra language from the kids, so anything is cool.
