Richard Graham

Hello, I'm Richard Graham. When I was a kid I found school to be sooooo boring... So I transformed my way of teaching. I listened to what the kids were really wanting to say and taught it in ways they really wanted to learn. The results were magical. Now I help teachers just like you teach amazing lessons and double your incomes!

    It’s a real hit, Richard!!
    Congratulations!

  4. Astrid Kahn

That’s a great Christmas song! My kids would love it!

  5. Gumby

Brilliant! The lyrics should be quite easy for students to understand, yet the grammar is more advanced than your other songs. And PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE visuals please. πŸ˜€

  6. yuppy

    That’s so nice song!!!
I and my son very like it! I can’t wait the cards!

  7. Nena

I was checking my mail on my iphone while i waited to go to my lesson … Heard the song and right there decided to use it for the lesson…
This little 10 year old has been studing English with me for 4… She’s really good at speaking, reading. Her weakness is writing …so after listening to the song twice. I asked her to write down the lyrics. She did great!
She loved the song because it has a great rhythm and a catchy tune.
Tomorrow I will use it with my 7year olds. Think they’ll love. I do too! Thanks Richard.
    Great song!
Reviews the phrase “how many” and is great way to introduce new verbs such as buy, feed, make, wrap etc.

  8. Janet Gray

Great idea! Finish it!!! Please re-do the word “says”. I work really hard with my students on the pronunciation of this word–it’s not like “say” with an “s” but “sez”. I can’t download the song–doesn’t have the right URL is what my Real Player “sez”.

  9. Charlie

Really great song Richard! I love the way it’s really hectic and excited – just like my kindergarten kids at the moment in the build up to Christmas!
Pictures would be really fantastic – my kindergarten children love counting out loud when we look at pictures, so it would be brilliant if there were a different number of stockings, reindeer, chimneys, toys…. etc on each picture so that we could count the answer to the questions.
    Thank you so much!

  10. Nena

I agree with Charlie. pictures would be great…asp please!I’d suggest making a poster with all the things scattered around and the kids need to count them and answer with “there is and there are”.

  11. Linsey

As always another brilliant addition to the Genki songs! Richard you are so talented and so generous to share it with us!

  12. Liza

I’m with Gumby – visuals (and lyrics) please πŸ™‚

  13. susanna zangheratti

    it’s funtastic!

  14. Jaione

    It’s just great! As usual!

  15. Richard

Thanks for the great feedback everyone, it is so nice to hear! Alyssa is going to work on some pictures for you – fingers crossed they’ll be ready in time!

@Janet: When I was at primary school I would have got a clip round the ear for saying “sez” instead of “sayz”! πŸ™‚

    Hi Richard,

just listened to the song – I’m rocking around !! Can’t wait to use it on Wednesday with my 8 year olds. How do I copy it onto a USB ? I can only open a new window if I go through the web but Wednesday I’m up in the mountains near Grenoble and have problems with internet !!!!!!

    Thanks Karen

  17. Irene

Wonderful!! At the beginnig I thought it woulnΒ΄t be sticky, but then… I loved it!
Since the structure of the sentences is of a higher level than in most of the GE songs for kids, I would prefer the pictures to be animated for older kids too.
    Thanks for another Great Song!!!

Feel this song could be used as a revision lesson to cover many of the phrases that have been taught since September. Lovely song but you have to be quick to get this animated and back online in time for xmas! Would love to use next week, if possible. Agree that the songs needs animation/different number of images per question. This way young and old kids can answer your questions. My older kids enjoy the exercises when there are more images to discuss. So not only can we answer “how many” – which is an easy question but weave in other exercises such as There are 4 stockings. (Practice colours) One is red, one is blue etc. (Practice position: The gold ribbon is on top, the image on the stocking of the mouse is below the tree etc or simple, the green stock is next to the blue one. Where is the red stocking ?Left or right questions etc.). (I Like etc) (I can make etc). You’d end up with a rich exercise – per you halloween set.

Hi Richard! wonderful simple catchy song for English (wish I was doing it that way)
For teaching Japanese it would be great at a higher level to introduce the idea of different ways of counting.
Nan nichi?, (tegami wa) nan mae? (omocha wa) nan ko?
OR even better…..using a variety of a4 picture cards with animals, long things, flat things etc. and the karaoke version this song would be wonderful!
p.s. We had such a great time with baby monkey and putting on and taking off the winter clothes ….which is more difficult vocabulary in Japanese as you know kabute, kite, haite etc.

  20. Magalie

    Hi Richard,

Nice catchy song that can be used in reviewing vocab from previous lessons and to introduce new ones.

    Thanks
    Magalie

Hi Richard, I tried to save the two files (which I can see in my Genki folder) but when I open the menu Vol 10 it does not include the new icon. I use a mac – is there a different file requirement? No problem to watch and use online but cannot store and use offline – which is the case in our classroom (;-( Thanks for any advice.

  23. Richard

    Hi Sandra,

Just make sure it overwrites the old version when you copy the files into your folder. Hopefully that will get it going!
