Ships to inspire ….

So I’m just on Day 3 of a massive teacher training tour of Vietnam.

I made the error on day 2 of trying to do too much teacher training stuff (games, activities, discipline etc.) and not enough motivation work for the teachers to see why we are doing this.

Especially in the middle of a tropical storm, and power cuts, what the teachers really needed was a massive boost of energy and self belief before we hit up the actual techniques.

I blogged more about how I actually do that here.

And for now here’s a quote for those of you doing teacher training (and I guess it applies to adult learners too ) Β …..

β€œIf you want to build a ship, don’t drum up people together to collect wood and don’t assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea.” –Antoine de Saint Exupery

We need to know why we’re going there before we buy the ticket πŸ™‚

P.S. Β And just in case you find yourself with a very tired group of teachers in the afternoon the massage game always does the trick πŸ™‚

Richard Graham

Hello, I'm Richard Graham. When I was a kid I found school to be sooooo boring... So I transformed my way of teaching. I listened to what the kids were really wanting to say and taught it in ways they really wanted to learn. The results were magical. Now I help teachers just like you teach amazing lessons and double your incomes!
