What’s color?
I read this one in a newspaper report of a demo lesson and have heard many
teachers use it.
But what does it mean? I guess they are trying to shorten “What is this
color?” but maybe it means “What’s your favorite color?” or something else?
The trick with questions that have lots of "is" and "it's"
is not to rush them. Try and introduce some drama, just like your favourite
TV game show. For example wave your finger around, then just before you
point to something say the phrase very, very slowly and with lots and lots
of anticipation...
What color is ... (dramatic pause!) ... THIS!
