My name is Mr Octopus
by Richard Graham

My name is Mr Octopus.
My name is Mr Octopus.
I've got 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 arms,
2 eyes, a mouth and a head.

But I haven't got any legs.
No, no legs.
But it doesn't matter because
I've got...

1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,arms,
2 eyes, a mouth and a head.

My name is Mr Spider.
My name is Mr Spider.
I've got 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 legs,
2 eyes, a mouth and a head.

But I haven't got any arms.
No, no arms.
But it doesn't matter because
I've got...

1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 legs,
Two eyes, a mouth and a head.

My name is Mrs Alien.
My name is Mrs Alien.
I've got 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 eyes,
2 legs, a nose and a mouth.

But I haven't got any arms.
But that's OK because I've got
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 eyes,
2 legs, a nose and a mouth

The best thing about Genki English songs is that they get the kids to remember the new vocab so easily and quickly. But this song is a bit different!! Instead of being written in order to learn new vocab, it's basically a fun review of "My name is...", numbers and parts of the body. But just like all the other songs, it has a melody that will stay in your head for ages!!

Hold out your fingers whilst counting, and touch the relevant body parts whilst singing.

After singing this song, try the "Monster Drawing Game"!

If you own any of the Genki English CDs, you can check out the worksheet to go with the song. Or if you order the set of 4 CDs we'll send you a FREE printed copy of the worksheets book!

Worksheet:
The worksheet from this song is based on the Genki English "Monster Drawing Game". Each kid has a copy of the worksheet and the teacher says things like "This alien has two heads". The kids hear this, and as the monster already has one head, they have to draw another one! If you have studied colours (try the "What's your favourite colour?" song from CD vol. II), then you can say things like "This monster has 4 blue legs and two green arms". Lots of fun!

On the CD....

On the CD there is the music (if you put it into a normal CD player), and the software section (if you put it in a suitable PC or Mac). As with the other songs there is a fun pronunciation section for learning the words, a mini-lesson to learn the song "a cappella" and a groovy quiz.

This song can be found on CD vol. IV !
