How are things? Hope you're all Genki! It's nearly December, so here's
the new newsletter!
Game Idea: Occupation Business Cards
This is a great idea I got from Craig, one of the very Genki teachers down
here in Nagasaki. Each kid has a business card on which they write (or
draw a picture of) an occupation. They then interview each other by saying
"Hello, what's your name?" and then "What do you do?"
when both people have answered they swap cards and then become the occupation
on the card they've received! Lots of fun and it's really great to use
with the "What do you do?" song! http://genkienglish.net/whatdo.htm
Game Idea: Ball and Music Jeopardy
If you're looking for a good end of year review, then try this cool idea (I got this one from the teachers in Nagasaki as well!). It's basically a mix of the Ball and Music Game ( http://genkienglish.net/BallandMusic.htm ) and the Jeopardy Game ( http://genkienglish.net/Jeopardy.htm ). You have a grid on the board with 8 numbered columns and three rows,
labelled A, B & C. In each position you put picture cards (have a look
at the photo on the website!) The kids pass round a box whilst singing
a Christmas song and then when it gets to the end of the song the person
holding the box takes out one piece of paper. On the paper will be written
something like "A3" or "C5", if the kids can say the
corresponding card's name then they get a point!
