What if you already have a textbook or curriculum that you have to follow? ย Can you still use Genki English (“Genki” meaning fun, exciting and full of life) to liven up your existing curriculum or textbook?
And the answer is, yes! ๐
This is what we did with the projects in Tanzania,ย Japan, with the British Council and the Thailand Ministry of Educationย and teachers have been doing with many more projects around the world.
- Make a list of all the topics you have to teach in your curriculum or textbook.
- Then next to each lesson make a note of the nearest Genki English lesson.
e.g. this is for part of the Tanzania “Baseline” book
That way you can check off everything you “have to” teach (so your boss and all the adults are happy!) ย and then say to the kids “OK, cool, now let’s do some Genki stuff!” and do the Genki English software, lessons, games etc.ย to spice up the lesson and get the kids full of life, super confident and actually able to use all the English!
Of course in an ideal world you’d use the Genki English curriculum just as it is. ย We’ve spent 20 years refining and refining it to be as fun as possible, as easy to teach as possible and to get the fastest results for your students,ย but this can be a fantastic way to do things if you don’t have that flexibility!
Any questions? ย Let me know! ๐
