New Game: I came here by ….

Lisa just sent in this great game, you can use it for How are you?, ย How did you get here?, I want to be a …ย  or any of the lessons actually!

1. Put the “Words 2” or flashcards for today’s lesson on the board.

2. All the kids stand in a circle.

3. One child in the group (usually the genkiest!) comes to the middle, ย picks one of the answers from the screen or flashcards, says it in English and mimes it out. Everyone repeats.

4. They then walk to one other person in the group, take their place in the circle and the person they replaced comes to the middle, picks an answer, says it, does the gesture and repeat from step 4!

5. Keep going until everyone has had a go.

6. Now try it again, this time timing them to see how fast they can do it. ย Can they beat the previous time but still have super clear English?

This is a great little no prep game, what do you think? Do let us know, or if you’d like us to continue bringing you new games, ย in the comments!

Richard Graham

Hello, I'm Richard Graham. When I was a kid I found school to be sooooo boring... So I transformed my way of teaching. I listened to what the kids were really wanting to say and taught it in ways they really wanted to learn. The results were magical. Now I help teachers just like you teach amazing lessons and double your incomes!

I played a really cool version of this with numbers for a math class. I put numbers 11-19 flashcards on the board. When the kids came to the middle they had to say two numbers, one of the numbers on the board followed by what number flashcard it was. 11 was the first flashcard so they said, “11-1.” It kept them on their feet!

I love games like this that are simple and yet give good review without my having to prepare anything! Thank you!

I tried a similar version of this just last week, one kid had to act out the feeling and the rest of them had to guess and shout it out instead of saying it first. Didn’t very smoothely , but kids were only 4 and 5. It might work better with the 6 year old or I might try to get them to say it first, it might be easier. thanks for the tips. Fanitsa

I just discover a good way to teach Body part today. I entered my class and the kids were very distracted while I was teaching body parts. I found a ruler and try to demonstrate by touching the parts of the kids while the others try to identify it. It became so interesting as each child take up the stick touch the body part of the friend identifying it. It became so fun that by the end of the day, the student could identify all the body part and pronounced it well. Lol it was a great success which I just discover. Give it a try
