Simple Valentine’s Games

If you want to use Valentine’s Day to spruce up your lessons this month ….

Left & Right Dates

First of all do the Β “Left and right” themeΒ  then ….

celebretyboard

Use pictures of real celebrities not the Genki English ones of course! πŸ™‚

1. Pin up pictures of famous celebrities on the board.

2. One student is blindfolded at the back of the class.

3. The rest of the students guide them to the board using English (left, right, forward, backward etc.)

4. Once they reach the board the students guide their hand with “up, down, left, right” and finally “date!”

5. When everyone says “date” the blindfolded student reaches out and touches the celebrity picture in front of their hand.

6. They get a pretend date with that celebrity!

Superhero Dating

super hero headFirst of all do the Superhero lessonΒ then …

1. Each student chooses three “I can …” superpowers from the song (e.g. I can cook, I can stretch etc.) They write them down or just remember them.

2. On the board there are a series of celebrity photos.

3. On the back of each photo you have secretly written the three superhero powers they are looking for in a date.

4. Choose one of the celebrity photos and hold it up.

5. One student tries to get the date by reading out the three things they can do, I can… , I can…. etc.

6. If the three things match the celebrities wish list, the student gets the picture and the date!

7. If they don’t match you say “Sorry, you’re not for me” and get the next student to read their three “I cans….”

8. See who gets the hottest date!

Guess who’s your secret admirer!

This one can be a bit more advanced for describing people…..

1. Again put up lots of celebrity photos on the board.

2. The teacher (or even a student) says some clues about the celebrity, e.g. I have blond hair. I’m from America, I’m a movie star etc.

3. The first student to correctly guess which celebrity you are talking about gets the date!

There are also more valentine’s ideas here.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

This is perfect timing. I was wondering, as it is my last 5th graders lesson next week to use the broken hearts for review. But wiht almost 40 kids it can end up pretty messy.
Also I just had introduced the superhero song last month and would need a review for this.
So this lesson plan is perfect for having a fun review at this time of the year.
    Thank you!
