Here’s the latest video from Austria, for CD10’s “Let’s build a snowman”
Just like the Gingerbread House song the kids pretend to build a snowman whilst singing the chorus. ย Then they get into pairs to put the parts on each other!
The English is a little more advanced than the other Genki English themes, but even the youngest kids love repeating it and hence end up knowing all the English.
Along with the Gingerbread House song it would also make a fantastic idea for a Christmas play!
The mini cards, A4 cards, worksheets and lyrics sheet are all on the main Let’s make a snowman page.
How do you teach this song?
Another great video!!!
I love the way how you bend the twig for the mouth. And I love “the hat” part too!
This is a very fun way to practice the song and I’m sure even the shiest kids will enjoy. How do I teach this song? I will use this idea!
Thank you!! All of the Austrian workshop videos are great!!
I’ve just started teaching and I’ve got 3-5 year olds. To help them learn the words I’ve cut out each item from the song (2 snowballs, hat, scarf, carrot etc.)from laminated paper. Each child will get one, and as I read out the lyrics they can come and put their piece on the floor so we end up with a finished snowman. If they cope with that we’re also going to try sitting in a circle. When I read the lyrics this time, each child stands up and runs round the circle back to their place when they hear their item mentioned. When I say “snowman” they can all run round! Then of course we’re going to sing the song too with lots of actions!
Really cute!! With this and the game from the newsletter, it’ll be a great class!
Actually I didn’t do many preparation at all when teaching this song.
As we have done body parts and clothes already, the only new word was “twig”. _So basically I’ve just been teaching it by doing.
“A snowball for his body” okay how does everybody make big snowballs? (different ideas)…Evrything is so easy to gesture that only repeating this cute dance again and again makes them able to say the sentences.
I will use the coloring games later on.
GREAT! GREAT! GREAT IDEAS! Thanks for making the videos, Richard! Seeing it “danced” makes it easier to figure out how to teach.
