3 Hot New Songs For You
We have just around 32 hours left before the Download Teachers Pack offer closes. It’s getting exciting. So here are your bribes of the day to make you want it even more!
Oh, and yes, all existing VIP members get everything I’ve been putting up this week. If this motivates you to donate personally then please do so!
1. Genki English Rules “Try Again” 2011 Remix (Once you have your Download Pack, right click and select “save as”)
A total full on dance track with the lyrics of “Try again” and “I can do it!”. Thanks to everyone’s feedback I just changed the lyrics to be “You win! I lose, and losing just means….” Kids love this song! Thanks to Gumby for the idea.
2. It’s Time to Tidy Up (again right click and select “save as” once you have your Download Pack)
Ok, I’m not sure if this is really bad timing for this song and totally insensitive, but I figured if it gets you to buy the pack so I can donate the money to the Red Cross then I’m going to give it to you!
As you may have guessed it’s a song to play at the end of class when you are tidying up. The chorus will stick in your head all day! I will flesh it out with more lyrics and things later, but for now enjoy the song and please don’t blame me if it starts driving you crazy!
3. How much do you want to give? ( right click and select “save as”)
This is a mash up of the normal How much song (It’s in the Download Teachers Pack!) and the Japanese version. So now it says “How much, how much, how do you want to give?” and the answer is 10, 100, 1000, 10000 yen! If you are doing any fundraising it’s a great little addition. Thanks to Margit for the idea!
Messages * from * Japan
You have just got to love what the internet can do. Late last night I got this reply on the Messages to Japan post from Tsukasa:
I’m writing from Japan.
And I’m living the place one of the Tsunami hit.I just wanna say that Thank you for all who give us wishes and blesses.
We still have lots of problem here.
But we never give up and forget how you all helping us now.
And I also got an email from Keiko. She is one of the ladies on the videos you saw of my workshop in Okinawa last month. She wrote in to say she was crying as she printed your messages out to show the children who have been evacuated to her island from Fukushima.
Help us help them more. Buy the Download Teachers Pack today and all the money goes to the Japan Red Cross.
Why you really need 2 credit cards in an emergency
I’ve also had quite a few people write in asking how to pay for the Download Teachers Pack if they don’t have a credit card. I’ll tell you how to get around that in a second but … going off on a tangent alert here …
Seeing as we’re talking about disaster relief this week, then I’d always recommend everyone to have at least 2 or 3 credit cards available, just for emergencies. This is especially the case if you are in a foreign country.
If you ever need to get out of a place in an emergency, e.g. like the riots in Thailand last year, or if the situation in Tokyo had been worse last week, knowing that you can just rack up at an airport or train station and have a way to get out of there is priceless peace of mind. You worry about the cost later, getting safe is number one.
Same with hotels, food or emergency telephone calls or clothing. If you lost everything tomorrow and just had what you had in your pockets at least a credit card should be there. After the tsunami last week it wouldn’t have helped initially, but it would if you got to a safe area.
In earthquakes ATMs empty very quickly, and if you only have one card and that bank’s machines are empty you can be stuck.
Even in Europe, if your cash gets stolen, if you have a backup credit card you can get home.
Several times in developing countries I’ve had credit cards being unable to be used, and if I didn’t have a back up card then I would have really been stuck.
Of course don’t use cards for buying regular things on credit – the rates are extortionate – but always have a couple for emergencies. The risks associated with having them are * far * less than the risks of not having them.
OK, sorry about that, I just wanted to get it out of my system!
Ok, revenons à nos moutons
If you don’t have a card at the moment and you still want to get the Download Teachers Pack the easiest way is to just ask a friend. You then just pay them the cash. We’ve had a lot of teachers over the years doing this and it usually works out fine.
Finally the price is going up even more at Midnight Friday…
You know how you’re getting $10 off the Download Teachers Pack this week? Well, from Friday Midnight – that’s about 30 + hours from now – I’m actually putting the price up to $199. That means it will be a full $30.01 more than it is now.
Woh…. you’re ripping us off! You may say. Well, no, it’s because I want you to buy it now whilst I’m giving the money away.
It is true though that I have had problems this week with people not believing just what is in the pack considering the price.
Some places re-sell the Genki English packs for $1,000. Yep, $1,000 US.
This is something I have been considering (if you have any thoughts on this, please write it in the comments). And for some schools, for example if you have over 2 teachers, then the amount of money you could be saving by using Genki English compared with other systems could be 10s of 1000s of dollars per year. That’s not to even mention then extra financial benefit you get from having more students when the parents start spreading the word about your school.
Plus all the other benefits, as Dawn from Korea writes:
I had a student who was really uninterested in my after school classes, he used to bully the other kids as he was quite big. He also completely ignored me. Then I got Genki English and the situation changed altogether. He is now my most ardent student and became teachers helper without me asking. From a bully to a helper. Is that not awesome. So go ahead people buy your teachers pack and you will experience the magic.
The songs are great.
It’s peaceful and powerful to be hearing your up to date voice!
Thanks so much for the How much song. I think I’ll record it 20 times in a row.
I like the fact that the numbers are in Japanese here, though first I was confused. but this is fitting perfectly to my plan, to have an auction corner for the parents.
For kids fixed prices is better, other wise the event won’t end.
I’m also happy you put up Tsukasa’s mail. I also started receiving direct mails from “where the Tsunami hit” and I think I will translate every single message I receive and send it to people in Germany, who still can’t believe that people here are smiling.
