If your students have completed the Genki Phonics programmeΒ here’s a very quick and very silly review!
1. Β Sit the kids on chairs in a row.
2. Β Sing the ABC Phonics Review Song:
3. Β When they sing the letters that are sitting on the line (i.e. Β a c e i k m n o r s t u v w x z) they sing them sat down on the chair.
4. Β But …. when they sing a letter that jumps below the line (i.e. Β f g j p q y) they have to jump off their chair and crouch on the floor.
5. Β And ….. when they sing a letter that has a tall line i.e. b d h l Β they have to jump up in the air!
Ninja Tip: Β You might want to practice with the slow version from the Teacher’s Set before doing the faster Youtube one above π
As I say, very silly, but great to show parents π
And as always remember the key to amazing results is speaking first, Β then reading using phonics (e.g. Genki PhonicsΒ ) Β then you can try reviews such as this song. Β (And then finally writing)
Ninja Tip: Β Or you can of course do ABCs and reading first if you have classes where you don’t mind if they can speak well or not. π
Do let us know what you think of the game in the comments and do send in a video of your kids doing it!
Be genki,
Richard
P.S. Β Again this was another great game I learnt from the ACET teachers – thank you again!
Why are k and t not in the tall line section? I know t is a bit shorter than the others, but I still would put both in that group?! Is that wrong?
My mistake, you’re right. π
