⛔️ Why writing and grammar are two of the worst things you can teach right now!

Hello,

Today, just to make sure you get amazing results for your students, Β I want to cover two big “don’t do!”s in teaching English.

So they are,  DON’T teach grammar and DON’T teach writing.

“But what …..?”   I can imagine you saying, “We have to teach the textbook and the tests!” 😬

Well,  let me ask you,  does every student who studies English grammar for the tests actually speak really good English?

Generations of failed high school English show this to be not the case πŸ™‚ Β

Or let me ask you,  have you ever heard of anyone who never studied any grammar nor writing but could actually speak really amazing English?

I’m sure you’ve seen these people all the time!   And of course in England and America most native speakers have no idea about any grammar terminology.

But they are all fluent!!

So how does this work?

The key here is “sequencing.”

If you want to get really good at grammar,  do grammar.

If you want to get really good at writing, do writing.

So if you want to get really good at speaking,  you …………

And that’s how we do things in Genki English.

Speaking first.

In fact I’d actually recommend doing 100 hours of speaking lessons first, before you do any grammar or writing.

( Ninja Tip:  If you can’t do 100, do at least 30, but 100 is better πŸ™‚ )

And do you know what magically happens?

Because you’ve chosen aΒ perfectly crafted curriculumfor the speaking, the students actually learn the grammar naturally. Β

Without needing any special instructions or lessons.

And even better,  by the time you’ve done the 100 speaking lessons they can not only confidently speak English but teaching them how to read and then write becomes crazy, crazy easy because they actually want to and are desperate to learn it.  It’s quite amazing.

So, speaking first.

Or  …….  you could just ignore what I say and continue on in the old fashioned way struggling with abcs, horrible grammar explanations, boring writing practice and sending the students to sleep. πŸ’€

Or keep it fun and genki with speaking first πŸ™‚

Which would you prefer, the fun easy, Genki way that gets great results, Β or the old fashioned boring way?

It’s up to you!

Be genki,

Richard

P.S.   If you find you don’t have time to get these 100 speaking lessons in before you start the tests or writing,  then a couple of things to try are 1) Ask to do 2 or more lessons per week,  2) Start your course from a slightly earlier age or 3) Just get the students to do 5 minutes per day at home – it soon mounts up over a year!

    Greetings !
Hello Sir, hope you are keeping great !

Enormous thanks for sharing your fruition kind of techniques . Yes , indeed, all your techniques and methodologies are excellent and beneficial to the learners in high volumes because of your carefully and effectively crafted curriculum. Hence the students learn ” grammar ” & ” writing ” as so naturally , with good memory and capability of doing so thanks to your excellent delivering styles.

People who live in foreign countries learn to speak by listening to those native speakers speaking clearly and not by attending ” GRAMMAR CLASSES “. So, your carefully crafted techniques are the ‘ Door to success ” for English language learners who will certainly speak well, read ,write and present themselves with clarity including grammar as well. Awesome !
    Best Wishes !
