If you’re looking for some (very professionally) pre-printed phonics cards, my mate Leon has just brought out a Phonics version of his very popular AGO card game. Β They are really nice cards and, unlike most phonics materials, they are perfect for teaching with a good phonics course. Β (Such as Genki Phonics of course! )
I made a quick video so you can see what they are like – and also demo a few games for you:
Leon sends the cards overseas and he also has a very nice new Christmas pack that you might want to pick up too:
P.S. Β As I said in the video, I don’t often recommend other materials, but I think you’ll really like these. π
Hello, the cards are great! How can we get them? I’d like to buy!
Here you go!

AGO cards have been a staple of my classes for a long time.
I just ordered a set. Looking forward to trying them out in class. Thanks for the info as always, Richard!
They look great! Thanks for passing on the info.
One thing, you said in the video that you didn’t like the other cards because they have katakana on them. From checking the site, I think only one ‘special’ set has katakana, the rest don’t seem to. Which is definitely A Good Thing!
Hi Richard!
As I got it AGO is another company offering products for ESL learning. If it is so, then I admire how you treat your colleagues’ achievements!!
I ordered the set and it literally came the next day. i got the green, red, and orange set which came with a Christmas set and poster. Just in time for Christmas. I use the Genki English posters for my lessons. If you made a set of those like the AGO cards, I would definitely buy them. π And the Genki English phonics workbook! Heaps busy with the school, so actually printed forms would be awesome.
I got the Genki English app on iPad which I use, but rather than a chart, if each letter could be a page in itself, that would be awesome. Then I guess I wouldn’t need flashcards. As it stands now, the letters are a little small. Possible update for the future? Thanks again as always.
Hi stephen, I see you ordered the set of AGO cards. I’m thinking of ordering it too but I don’t see too clearly what is actually included, it says there are 12 sets of cards but which ones are they? I ask because I only see the 4 different colour levels, teh christmas and teh phonics. So what are the other cards? Could you help please since you’ve bought them? thanks
Eleanor
Hi, this is Leon, the creator of the AGO cards.
Thanks a lot Richard for the kind words about my games!!!
Lately quite a few genki english users have been emailing me with questions – especially about international shipping, so I thought I should try to clear that up one at the source!
Yes, AGO ships world wide. The price works out at about $9US / 6.50 Euros a deck. Payment is in Yen (paypal will automatically calculate from your base currency). Postage is $3.50 flat rate world wide.
Eleanor, AGO 12 packs are usually bought by schools that adopt AGO into their curriculum per student. They contain 12 identical sets of cards. But… if people ask nicely, I can mix different levels together (e.g. 3 each of A,G,O and Phonics).
Anyway, feel free to get in touch everybody. It’s always great to hear how the games are working out in different parts of the world!
Cheers,
Leon

Hi Eleanor,
I got the special pack offer, which came with one aqua, green and orange set. I didn’t get the kana set. I also got the christmas card set. I didnt get the phonics cards because I am using Richards genki english phonics posters because they have words written on them that coincide with the order of teaching the letters I am using. Plus I am waiting for Richard to release his own set of cards!!! π But the AGO cards are fantastic as warm up activities for high level kids and adults as well.
I hope this helps you Eleanor!!!
I got these cards today. It took just seven days from Japan to Bosnia. I ordered aqua, green and orange, and phonic ones. Still haven’t tried, I will do it in February, but the cards are really nice and helpful. Thank you, dear Richard!
