Holly’s just sent in this great review game for any question, answer, vocab or grammar!

This is a really versatile game, and great for any age group.

Give each student (or, if it is a large class, divide the class into teams) a coloured feather (you can buy them very cheaply from large habidashery shops).

If you really want to increase the competitive element, name the teams something creative; “Blue bird” or “Green Ostrich” or “Red Parrot”. Get them to line up on one side of the room, and put their feathers on the floor.

Then ask the target language; this can be anything, from questions (what day is it today), vocabulary with picture cards (what is this?), sentences (first one to form a sentence with the word “tennis”) or grammar (past tense of “play?”).

First team or student to put their hand up answers the question first. If they get it right, they can blow the feather ONCE (watch for this because they usually try and blow it as many times as they can). Then ask another question.

Keep going until one student or team`s feather touches the other side of the room. They are the winners!

This is remarkably popular with all age groups, up to even the 15 and 16year olds: because there is an element of luck to it (size of feather etc) it makes it quite unpredictable and therefore fun. My kids beg to do this one every lesson!

Be sure to give it a try and tell us what you think!

If you have any of your own games that you’d love to share, then please send them in!
