Have a listen to this – I’m really excited about it!
Gingerbread Man Song(UPDATE: The free download offer has nowย finished, I hope you enjoyed it – check back for more later in the year!)
I think you know what’s coming at the end!
Thing is I’m paranoid now because the chorus sounds far too good for me to have written it. ย Have you heard it anywhere before?
Do you want a video?
Enjoy!
Wow ! You are right to be exited. Great song. I think the kids will love it, even better with a video, especially for the talking parts. Well done Richard. I don’t remember hearing that song before.
Glad you like it!
I have been teaching the verb To Be as a nice story about four families. The four families have last names, one is the “are” family, another the “is” falily and the grandparents of each one, they are the “was” and the “were” family plus the most important person qho decided to live near the town but across the river, it is the most important one “I” and the last name is different from the others “am”.
My students really enjoy my story, and they learn by heart the personal pronouns and the verb TO BE.
I have to agree with Dominique, good song, the kids will like it an da video would be awsome! Have not heard the song before either.
Oh super! The kids from my afternoon private groups want to put on a Christmas show for their parents. This would be ideal for the older ones. Do you have the text or words anywhere as a download please? Thanks very much.
Here you go!

Iris, I didn’t quite get the story you read to the kids but it looks interesting, can you tell us more about it?
Do you bake /bring gingerbread ? It should be easy to cut the shape of a gingerbread man with ” cooking shapers” ( lol sorry I dunno the english word!)
Hi
Yes, a video and A4 prints in B&W and colour would be fab!
Thank you.
I’ll do this theme in 2 weeks time. :.)
Richard, I’m so pleased you have written a song that gets away from your standard question + list of 8 responses format. I’ve been hoping you’d do this ever since I first discovered Genki English 8 or 9 years ago! I hope this will be the first of many.
The Gingerbread Man was a great choice. I’m using it as the center of my lessons for my second graders this year. We’ve TPRed the TPRable vocabulary and are currently creating stories via TPRStorytelling for non-TPRable vocabulary. We’ll soon begin reading the different versions I’ve collected of this classic tale. There is quite a bit of variation among versions. Your song will be a great addition. It’s the first that includes a tiger and a crocodile. A video would make it even better!
With my first graders I’m using LRRH. Every story we’ve created so far as a class involves Mr. Wolf eating Baby Monkey! Yikes!
Hi Richard, thanks for the text and the blog nod! I’m really looking forward to introducing the kids to the song! Thanks again.
This is a great song!!!! It combines themes together too! It would make a great picture book!
Picture book! Yes Please!
Picture book, picture book, picture book!!!!!
please..
There’s already the classic Gingerbread Man picture book!
This song is marvellous. And it fits perfectly in my syllabus, since I’ve been teaching family and animals to my 2nd graders. And with Christmas on its way…perfect! Thank you!
We had our first rehearsal this afternoon. It went really well and the kids loved it. Thanks again.
