Whilst I’m waiting for the new audio files to come back I’ve got a few hours free drum machine time this week.
I was thinking of trying a couple more Advanced Grammar Hip Hop songsΒ for you.
So ….
What advanced grammar points would you like me to make for you?
Rules: Β Put up your request in the commentsΒ AND please give me at least 5 example sentences you use when teaching each particular grammar point.
If you’re lucky you might end up with a funky new hip hop track for your next lesson!
P.S. Β Grammar points we have already:
- Comparatives & superlatives
- If … Modal I’d
- Have you ever?
- Simple Future
- I have to …Β
- Modal Verb shall
Here are a few:
the use of ‘how to’ as in the following examples of JH texts:
NEW HORIZON: I know how to get tickets.
NEW CROWN: Koji is learning how to cook.
SUNSHINE: I don’t know how to play it.
TOTAL ENGLISH: Do you know how to make a paper crane?
COLUMBUS 21: I donβt know how to thank you.
Also I know you have comparatives and superlatives but perhaps a song using just
good, better, best
or the phrase as… as
as in
as tall as Tom.
as difficult as Questions 3
can swim as well as Tom
as important as English
(something with good graphics would make this especially memorable)
As tall as Godzilla,
swim as well as a dolphin
as fast as a cheetah
as cold as ice
Also you already have an irregular verb song, but how about using it in the passive tense (not exactly my favorite to teach….)
irregular ones including
eaten, given, known, made, seen, spoken, written, built, found, grown, kept
or a list on wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_irregular_verbs
or a very simple perfect tense using the full answers,
Yes, I have,
No, I haven’t.
No, never.
just a few ideas.
How about a song to review all the question words? What, which who, where, why, when with and with out auxiliaries!
Adverbs of frequency (always,sometimes,often, never,etc)
I also like gumby’s last suggestion!
Hope it helps
Nena
Thanks Nena, I need example sentences though! π
first of all I need all the hip hop songs but for religious schools- No girls or dances or inappropriate pictures!! just like the regular c.d’s! please!
second of all what about present simple?
she goes to school every day
he goes to school every day
she doesn’t like…
he doesn’t like….
everybody likes…
I would like to ask you to make more songs with past tenses.
Maybe some with regular verbs. Some with irregular. It could be fun if they looked like short stories.
The princess was beautiful, the weather was awful. one day she went somewhere and saw someone etc. ==> story with a fun plot. maybe everything was vice versa?
The princess was awful, the weather was beautiful …etc.
We have one russian cartoon like this called The princess and the orge. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RumjJ8H0I3w
Hi Richard,
I would really love a song to help teach the past simple of the verb to be.
Where were you this morning?
what was the weather like yesterday?
What were you doing at 3 o’clock yesterday.
I wasn’t at school, I was at the beach.
Who were you with at the beach yesterday.
I found a couple of classroom games to practise and an online game which was quite good(eslgamesplus). But no songs. It would be great to have something to help teach this.
OK let me know
thanks
