As you may have heard I’m back in Japan for a couple of weeks (awesome workshop coming up in Nagoya on Sunday!)

And it also happens to be Cherry Blossom season – which as you can see in the video is very nice!

Apart from the fact that Cherry Blossoms mark the end of a very cold winter, one of the main reasons they are so popular is that they last only a few days.  By Saturday they’ll be all gone!

This is a very human trait, wherever we come from.   If we can do something everyday, we usually won’t, we’ll “put it off” for another day.

But if something is *only* available now, then we have no choice but to do it!

It’s the same with iPhone launches and people queuing outside Apple stores,  January Sales after Christmas, travelling home at Chinese New Year, or festivals or events all over the planet.  Because, you know, we’re all the same humans. 🙂

And it’s just the same with your school, with Start your own School Tip 2: Be unavailable!

And of course it’s not just when you start.   Adding a little scarcity, say an extra bonus lesson or even an ipod shuffle, if people sign up before next Friday, can really help the people who were “getting around” to joining your lessons.  And of course once they join you are going to give them the most amazing lessons that they’ll be telling all their friends! 🙂

Keep the deadline short (3 days is best, but certainly no more than 2 weeks), chose a pretty decent, and desirable, bonus prize and see how you go! 🙂
