I don’t know why but students never seem able to say “Fireworks” – even if they can say “work” on its own!
In England, fireworks mean winter, but over in Japan they’re the highlight of the Summer. Here are the ones from my local town as I popped back home last weekend for the first time this year!
What time of year do you think of with fireworks?
In Turkey we have them in summer and on New Years Eve. But not as spectacular!
Fireworks brings to mind July 4th picnics and barbecues with my family. On July 4th in the U.S. there are wonderful fireworks displays all over the country. the most beautiful ones are in Washington, DC and New York. Why July 4th? It’s Independence Day! We also have beautiful fireworks displays on New Years.
Now that I live in Brazil, fireworks reminds me also of New Years, but more especially of August 15th. In the little corner of Brazil where I live August 15th is the feastday of the patroness of the largest city in the area – Cruzeiro do Sul – and of the diocese, Our Lady of Glory. At the end of the celebrations on that day the mayor usually offers a fireworks dispay. It is very simple in comparison to the others, but still beautiful.
Bonfire Night (November 5th) and New Year’s Eve.
In France, July 14th, what is called “Bastille day” (French revolution in 1789) and New Year’s Eve, always when the kids are on holiday. Spectacular ones in Paris at the Eiffel Tower.
Summer for July 4th and for New Years. The best fireworks I have ever seen were in Paris for Bastille Day, really breathtaking seen from the bateaux mouches!
In Iran we have them in the winter. The last days of the winter and also in wedding ceremonies.
Great fireworks!
Being American fireworks = 4th of July. In Chicago they put on a great show on the lake front!
Living in Rome, Italy (for the past 25 years) fireworks = New Years Eve…and the last one I spent it in hotel downtown (on Via Veneto) on the terrace overlooking the eternal city… the show was spectacular!
In Spain in Summer ( Now), because there are a festivities in all the cities, towns and villages.
Fireworks is one of the spectacles of the festivities. The different festivities are in name of a Saint ( San Juan, La Virgen del Carmen, la Virgen de la Encina…)
Sorry, but I can’t see the video.
