Lesson of the Week: Haunted House!

OK I’m going to go for a Halloween theme for this week’s Lesson of the Week.

And my number one favourite lesson for Halloween is Who is in the haunted house?

This kids love it, Β you get to teach the questions word “who” and rooms of the house, and best of all you get all the monsters appearing at random in the “words” section – the kids love screaming out when they appear!

We’ve also got a ton of game ideas over on the lesson plan page.

What do you think, fancy giving it a try?

Or if you have taught it before – do let everyone know how it went in the comments!

Be genki,

Richard

P.S. Β You can also use the software to ask “Where is the spider?” Β  She appears in all the rooms!

P. P.S. Β Other Halloween lessons are here.

I’ve used this lesson for a few years now with my 5th graders and it is always a favorite. Yesterday I tried the new “chaos” method to introduce new vocabulary. Interestingly it only took the students about 5 minutes to get all the rooms correctly. The who did it mystery game is also loads of fun. It is one of the more challenging games for the students, but after a few rounds they catch on and beg for more. Your students will not be disappointed.

My kids always fiddle with my computer and the software before class and ALWAYS watch the Halloween songs AND the Gingerbread Man song, haha.
