The “What sports do you play?” Olympic game!

A fantastic class game for the Olympics to practice “What sports do you play?”

Learn the “What sports do you play?” lesson as usual using the Genki English song/software.  Then ….

  1. Print out pictures of medal winning athletes that the kids know.
  2. Put them on the board with their faces facing the board so no one can see who they are!  (I used magnets to attach them.)
  3. One of the kids chooses a medal, either gold, silver or bronze and a number.
  4. All the class shouts “What sports do you play?”
  5. You turn over that card.
  6. The first kid to correctly shout out “I play ….” or “I do … ” plus that athlete’s sport in English wins a point!
  7. Repeat from step 3 with the winning kid choosing the number & medal!

Bonus Points:   Add in “What’s your name?” as well as “What sports do you play?” in step 4!

Bonus Points:  Add in a “cheater” card, if the kids pick this card their team loses all their points!

There are more Olympic themed games here & there are lots more games on the VIP menu at the top of the page – enjoy!

Be genki,

Richard

P.S.  This is the reason we teach “Gold”, “Silver” & “Bronze” in the Genki Colours lesson!
