A fantastic class game for the Olympics to practice “What sports do you play?”
Learn the “What sports do you play?” lesson as usual using the Genki English song/software. Then ….
- Print out pictures of medal winning athletes that the kids know.
- Put them on the board with their faces facing the board so no one can see who they are! (I used magnets to attach them.)
- One of the kids chooses a medal, either gold, silver or bronze and a number.
- All the class shouts “What sports do you play?”
- You turn over that card.
- The first kid to correctly shout out “I play ….” or “I do … ” plus that athlete’s sport in English wins a point!
- Repeat from step 3 with the winning kid choosing the number & medal!
Bonus Points: Add in “What’s your name?” as well as “What sports do you play?” in step 4!
Bonus Points: Add in a “cheater” card, if the kids pick this card their team loses all their points!
There are more Olympic themed games here & there are lots more games on the VIP menu at the top of the page – enjoy!
Be genki,
Richard
P.S. This is the reason we teach “Gold”, “Silver” & “Bronze” in the Genki Colours lesson!
