Kristin has just sent in a nice game to go with the weather song.
You just play the How are you? Monster game, but instead the kids ask “What’s the weather like?” (or “How’s the weather?) and they run back when the answer is “It’s rainy!” Β Very simple, but lots of fun.
Any other phrases we could use this game with?
That really is a nice idea. The monster game works wonders for me, the kids just love it. I think one can modify it for every topic even and the kids never get tired of playing it.

I and my students all love the ‘weather clap clap game.’ I do not make the action, but tell them I am thinking, which stops them hesitating and waiting to see what I do!!!

I’ve been using this game all the time!
Recently, I used it for Do you have a…? the monster/wolf (I actually use a zombie)has a mini card and the students one by one have to guess what it is by saying , eg. ‘do you have a pencil?’. If the monster says yes I do, the students escape.
I also used it for months / birthdays. Everyone asks ‘When is your birthday?’ the monster says ‘it’s in (January)’. Anyone whose birthday is in January must take 5 steps forward, drawing only some of the students closer to the monster! The run away phrase I used was ‘It’s in lunch time’ – a little bit of a strange phrase I know, but it fit the same sentence pattern.
Also months correlate very well with numbers, so you could have the students take, say 2 steps for February or 5 steps for May.
Games never fail to excite young learners. Creative idea!

I play this game with a spray bottle in my hand! I spray water on them when “it’rainy” )) Even when it is -20C outside kids love it!
My kids also love the Monster Game– they always beg me to play it so changing the topic is a great idea.
