Over here we’ve been working at fever pitch starting Genki English on the iPad & iPhone.
It’s been a superhero, very expensive battle but we’re very nearly there.
And it’s looking *very* cool.
So ….. would you like a sneak peek?
Before anyone else?
Well…
Just imagine how much faster your students could learn by having their favorite Genki English songs & games on their iPads and iPhones at home.
You set the lesson as homework, then spend the class time actually using the real English.
It will make you the best school in town!
Even better ……. they’ll only be able to get access whilst they are your students.
So no worries about anyone ever quitting.
If we get enough teachers interested we’re looking at getting your students full access for just $10 per month per student. And yes you can of course just pass this to students as part of your monthly fees, or even charge them more if you wish.
The minimum will be 20 students, and you can enroll as many as you wish above that.
For VIP members, launch date is looking like December.
We’re hoping to have 14 lessons done with a new one added every two weeks.
But …. if you get on the sneak peek list you might get started even earlier.
I know you’ve been waiting so fingers crossed. π

P.P.S. Β Yes, students won’t be able to just buy the app on the app store, Β they can only get access through you, their VIP English teacher. Β It’s an extra plus to make you stand out against all the other schools in town.

This is absolutely fabulous news indeed! I’m very much looking forward to this! And hopefully I can get in the Sneak Peek.
We have almost 100 students using Genki English now and many of them have even said that they wish it were possible to access the course on their ipad since some of them don’t even have a computer all-though they bought CDs.
This news will be extremely exciting for our students so I can’t wait to tell them.

Love all of the work you do, and would love a chance to see the iOS in action. My students go ape any time they get a chance to play the games on the pc, but they love iPods etc even more.

Fantastic news Richard. I’ve had many mothers asking if the homework pack works on the iPad or iPhone. Glad you’re finally getting it up and running. My only problem is that I don’t have 20 students in my Genki classes yet-but I’m working on it!

Fantastic! Bought android tablets though as wasn’t compatible with apple/mac/ios π£ so please hurry with those, there’s a whole course and a half till 2017, can’t be that long without genki!! Still need help with Mac computer not letting me download the file you said, always says it’s broken and September is a few days away!!!! Help!!

Question 2 – $10 a month for how long ??? What will the total cost be and if it is a download App does this have to be paid as 1 payment ??

Great news on the availability over iPad and it being compatible with homework.
Here in Spain we’ve had an interesting journey adapting to genki and also educating the parents on the benefits.
Would love to see how this works
Well I don’t have my OWN students, yet, but this would be quite amazing. Offer the homework pack as either the USB for a big one time fee or an app subscription for $10/month while they are enrolled (I think you can make more money long run this way while hooking the kids to the school and the program…and the kids and parents will love the portability on their always present iPads, iPhones, etc.
At least, I hope to be able to preview the new app before I get my school going full-swing!

Would love to have a sneak peak, though I don’t have 20 students with access to iPads or iPhones. At the moment I have about 7 children classes in which I use Genki English materials. I teach small groups of students in their homes. I bought the Teacher’s Set a few years ago, but didn’t have much opportunity to use it until a year ago. My private classes for children had dried up and I was mostly teaching adults. Most of my classes with children were at a friend’s school where I work part-time, but she really didn’t want me using GE. However, when I finally got another class of my own the kids loved the Genki CDs. By word of mouth I soon had several more classes in the neighbourhood partly because the moms and kids really like me, but also because they also like Genki English! Thanks for all your hard work. I use the Teacher Pack DVDs on my MacBook Pro and the kids use a mouse to play the games.
Ohhh yesssss, please, Richard!!! I have been waiting for this announcement for a loooong time!!! I’m soooo excited about this!!! Remember our email correspondence? Now, I will finally have everything on ONE tablet, my beloved iPad!!! I can’t wait to get rid of my second tablet that I’ve been carrying around only for Genki English! Thanks a million!!!! To answer a few questions:
@Gudrun: It’s going to take a while to get all the themes done so you might need the current tablet for a little while longer. (It looks like we’ll need a 100 or so teachers signed up to cover just the development costs of one new theme every two weeks. Of course if a 1,000 or more of you signed up then we could hire more coders & bring out more themes (or even new themes!) even more quickly!)
@Mikki: For the parents who’ve paid for the full software at home, we’ll be looking at getting them access to the iPad version as part of that if we can. For the ones who pay you and then you pay us the $10 per month, that will go on as long as they are doing your Genki English course. So if it takes 3 years to learn all the English, they’ll pay it for that, or of course if you get them speaking all the Genki English material in 2 years, 1 year or less they’ll only need it for that amount of time. It’s another incentive to get them learning as quickly as possible!
@Mike, Ken & others who don’t have 20 students yet: Put the Start your Own School marketing tips in place and I’m sure we’ll get you way beyond the 20 student minimum before we launch!

@Margit: Don’t tell them yet π Everything looks great so far, but as you know we’ve been trying to figure this out for a long time, so until it’s really launched, let’s keep it to ourselves – we never know what might happen!
