Genki English reader Lines has just sent in this variation on the How are you? Monster or Mr Wolf games, Β but this time for the present continuous i.e. I’m …. ing
1. Make a circle.
2. One child is a wild animal( they choose one, say Mr Tiger.)
3. He/she is in the centre.
4. The pupils ask him/her “What are you doing Mr.Tiger?” and Mr. Tiger says for, example, I’m swimming. ( A great way to add extra vocab to “What are you doing” lesson is to use the verbs from the Superhero lesson!)
5. The children repeat “I’m swimming” and they do as if they were swimming,
6. And we go on with the present continuous till Mr Tiger says “I’m having breakfast” or lunch, dinner…
7. The children run away and Mr. tiger runs after them till he/she catches one kid, who goes to the centre, he says the animal he wants to be and we go on with the game.
Thanks for sending in the game, Lines. Β What do you guys think?
This sounds like a great game. Can’t wait to try it with my kid’s english club.
I continue to enjoy your e-mail updates. I can’t afford all of your materials but use what I can from your website.
Jann in Mexico!
Hi Jann, welcome to the blog!
Certainly try and save up for the Download Pack if you can – it’s much cheaper than any comparable programme.
You’ll find that once you’ve made the investment you’ll get so many new students wanting lessons that it will pay for itself very quickly!
Neat idea! Thanks
That’s a nice idea. All the kids I’m teaching just love that “hunting” games. Whenever I have to go after them, they start screaming and running and don’t want to stop the game. whenever I say it’s enough now, they just say “again, again”.
