Please no presents! :) & Special Offer for Teachers in Hungary

monkeycircleI’m just about to head off to the airport to start the Europe tour!

We’ll be blogging and videoing it, so if you do have any requests of games or songs you’d like to see in action do let us know in the comments!

And for everyone coming to the workshops I have one small request…..

As I’m taking so many aeroplane flights and have so much luggage with me I am *way* over on my weight allowances.

And they are very expensive.

Last year I received so many wonderful presents from Russia, China and Thailand.

But this year I just won’t have room.

(Unless of course you want me to leave my vol. 14 making gear at home!)

So if you want to bring me a present this time, please just make it a big smile and lots of questions!

Even small gifts add up weight wise, but smiles and questions are light and free and make me happiest of all!

Is that OK?

We’re going to have an awesome time, and I’ll see you all very, very soon!!

Be genki,

Richard

    Dear Richard!

It’s nice to see the sweet picture of all the presents which you hopefully could take with you.

You give us SO MUCH that it’s not a surprise that everybody wants to repay for all the things you do with at least one nice, specific and genki present. πŸ™‚

Best regards and wishes for your new Genki tour!

    Hi Richard,

I have been doing a TEFL Diploma Study Course and passed so will be receiving that TEFL Diploma, at this College in Zhuzhou,Hunan PRC.

I should have signed up when I started last August, not near the end!

Thought I would share something from the ‘Techniques for Teaching Children’ Module, of the additional Diploma Exam.:-

“‘Teaching Likes/Dislikes to 5 year olds’.

I was hoping to teach yes/no questions:
    E.g. “Do you like chocolate? ” “Yes, I do / No, I don’t “.

However, for the 5 year olds the answers proved a little complicated.

I changed the answers to “Yes, yummy! ” and “No, yuk! “.

This went over much better and they now love shouting out “yummy ” and “yuk ” to food flashcards. The yes/no answers can be taught at a later date.”

I can imagine a version of the Genki English for “Do You Like…” for food items, with “yummy” or “Yuk” for answers, would be far more GENKI, than “Yes I do!” or No I don’t!

My small class of 2 x 5 year old girls and a 6 year old boy has finished, so did not get the chance to test it out, but I thinkI know they would have enjoyed learning ‘Yummy’ and ‘Yuk’ and had FUN saying it (even if the parents might not agree?).

    David
