Time is always a challenge for teachers. So we always have to make choices as to what is the most important and useful language to teach first.
That’s why my curriculum ends up full of questions, which the kids want to ask all the time, and things like numbers & colors end up being much later than you might think.
It’s also why nearly all the questions are in the You/I form. Kids, and humans in general, for better or worse, tend to use You & I for more than 80% of daily communication with he/she adding less than 20%.
In class teaching we want to stick to a similar ratio. So although there is of course the he, she, we, they etc. lesson, at least 80% of class time wants to be on You & I.
And, with the magic of games you can easily add in he/she/we/they etc. into any Genki lesson to make up that 20%.
