Ok, I know I said we were finished for this year, but I just couldn’t resist the challenge of doing the Gingerbread Man Picture Book requests! So here it is..
I’ve added some funky Gingerbread foods & I’ve changed the backgrounds a little from the video. What do you think?
Speaking of the video, again by popular request, here’s an iPhone/iPad version (UPDATE: The video offer has now finished, I hope you enjoyed it and stick around for more this year!) of the video for you.
Help!
After the Vol. 12 special offer lots of people have been asking how they can help Genki English. That’s easy, Facebook! Linking to the pages you like or telling your friends, nieces or nephews is the best way you can help. The more people who know about Genki English the easier it is for me to spend less time getting the word out there and more time making new things for you!
A lot of you have also been using the songs as Christmas plays, fantastic! It would be cool to see some videos! Margit has also been using the Gingerbread Man as a school play, this time with funky puppets…
It’s really cool to see how they have expanded on the English. As Margit says:
We did some TPRS circling for the story script (from this site, thanks cj!), and on purpose I gave them parts after that printed out, as I wanted to do some reading as well. We didn’t really practice this, but play after reading it once.
What I found really interesting is, how smooth and fluent they are with the difficult chorus of the song, compared to the parts they are reading out. I have the feeling we could use many more stories as songs like this one. I mean, I didn’t really practice the song at all. I taught them the chorus part by having them introduce themselves, bragging a bit: I can jump high and you can jump as high as you can, you can’t reach me I’m…
And after that it was so easy.
I’m using it with many classes, in different variations and levels. It’s great fun! Thank you,Margit
And finally Lines has written in to say how the kids in his class have really taken to the “Let’s decorate …” song, singing new versions with let’s decorate the classroom, house, kitchen , garage, city, town etc….
Thank you Richard for this great picture book! I will be using it in my classes today. Thanks for all your hard work!!
Printing it out as I write. I’ll be using it for my group of pre-schoolers this morning. Thanks very much.
Hi Richard
I don’t know if its just me but I downloaded both the Ginger bread man video and the Christmas tree video. Both didn’t have sound?
Hi Roger
They are formatted for iPads/iPhone so playing in iTunes is probably best to guarantee the sound. Or for a light weight solution you could try the free VLC player from download.com
Hi
I am pretty sure it was VLC player I was using (as I use that as my main media player) but if no one else has this problem, then it must be me
THANKS RICHARD! FOR A YEAR OF WONDERFUL RESOURCES, IDEAS, SONGS AND FUN! A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A SUPER NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!
Hi! Richard, I’m delighted with everything you create, because my pupils love it an me too of course!
My students asked me how they can find you in internet, they love your videos very much. Today I tough to the smallest ones the video of head, shoulders…, and as they know the song we laugh a lot, because I made some mistakes.
And the biggest ones learn How did you get here!, do you know? the lesson about transport. It was fantastic the way they danced with your song imitating the different means of transport. Some of the groups asked me to sing and dance this song at the end of the school year. They say: I love English a lot, the time flies in your classes…This is the best one student can say to a teacher so thank you again and again…
I think every english teacher and lots of students know you in my city, Ponferrada. You are very famous in my casses so I think I’m helping genkienglish without relising it.
Thank you very much.
You are the best.
Sorry, my mistake. When I play it on my VLC player its fine.
