Help Please: Would you like Group Coaching Calls with Richard?

UPDATE* Β Thanks to everyone for the call, it was fantastic! Β I just put a wrap up post here!

————————————————————————————————————————

Do you have classroom problems you’d like help with? Or teaching questions you’d like to ask me?

Whilst I always try to help as much as I can via email, I always find it much easier when explaining things over the phone or skype.

It also means you can ask questions back or tell me straight away if you don’t understand.

So, just like they do in other industries, I’m thinking of maybe doing some “group coaching calls” Β for you guys.

Basically we set some time aside, probably an hour, we all get on a call or skype together and for 60 minutes I’ll try and answer as many questions as I can.

We could maybe do 1 or 2 per year.

Do you think that would be something you’d be interested in?

If so do put up a comment in the comments! Β Also let me know what day of the week and what times would be best for you along with your time zone of course.

Ideally I’d like to expand this out into “Mastermind” groups where you can communicate with other teachers in your own country. Β But for now, let’s see if anyone is interested in these calls!

Be genki,

Richard

P.S. Β If you think these wouldn’t interest you then do indeed feel free to tell me in the comments too – it will save us all a lot of time! πŸ™‚

Richard Graham

Hello, I'm Richard Graham. When I was a kid I found school to be sooooo boring... So I transformed my way of teaching. I listened to what the kids were really wanting to say and taught it in ways they really wanted to learn. The results were magical. Now I help teachers just like you teach amazing lessons and double your incomes!

Are you by chance talking about webinars? I’ve done a few o fthese and they are great! You can also save them and let people watch the recorded ones later. Basically the ones I have participated in / bought had different topics. You could see the speaker on a screen and the speaker talks, shows videos and or slides. The participants are all allowed to type in and join the discussion and there is also a way that you can ask a multiple choice questions and have the participants answer them to show up as a graph.

If our schedules could work out I would be interested!

    Hi Gumby,

Webinars are one option too! It’s great to hear your experience with them! Any topics you’d like to see??

  3. Margit

    I’m on, any type~ webinars, chats, masterminds…

Just hope the time will be good. Aimee, you should really get your Kyoikucho on there. The more I read about his ideas I think he really should meet Richard!
Richard, I think you would be motivated to have such a mind in Japan, too.

    Hi Richard,
I have joined Skype and my name is ——– I would be interested in “webnars” or “group” meetings on skype.
A very good idea because I could use a few ideas from the more knowledgable teachers or yourself.
    Regards, Mark

Just off the top of my head, how would next Wednesday, 13th March at 10AM Japan Time (GMT +9) sound?

  7. Gumby

The time may work out for me. What topics will be discussed? Will it be via Skype?

  8. Julia

    Hi Richard!

I would love to attend your webinars regularly.
And I’ll try to join your online meeting on Wednesday.

Hi Richard, I was just thinking how MUCH I would love to talk with you about some road bumps in my teaching. I would love a chance to skype with you and others to bounce ideas off and get help with moving forward. PLEASE keep me in the loop as to when that would happen. I live in Spain so not sure the time difference from Japan. I also am a mom of four small kids so would want to do it when they are asleep at night. So not sure how it could work. But I REALLY need help. LOVE the Genki program. I have two classes of almost 18 kids in each class. They love coming, but I want to keep it that way and not peeter out. Help!!!

    I like the idea!
March 15th would be better for me (Wednesdays and Thursdays I work at that time), time is ok from Italy.
    Let me know!

    Hey Richard,

I am probably the most difficult person to schedule around. I am only free after work around 9:40PM πŸ™

  14. Kobekid

I can’t make it at 10 this Wednesday but don’t reschedule around me.

I had another Skype related idea/question. Last month the 6th years at one of my schools did a Skype exchange lesson with students in Namibia. An elementary school teacher is there from this town on a two year volunteer stint. It was fantastic! The look on my students faces when they were talking to the kids in Namibia was one I’ll never forget. After talking to me and each other in class all the time this was their first real experience of using English with someone who doesn’t speak Japanese. Wow! Anyway I started looking for other partners to try this with when I remembered we have our own little GE United Nations here. What do you think Richard? Could we set up some kind of system to connect out GE classes on Skype?

  15. Elvira

Great! I’m especially for a Skype exchange lesson at Kobekid’s suggestion. It’s been my desperate desire since I first started teaching! How can we set it up? I’m a little bit nervous because I’ve never tried it before and how can we arrange the time then? And my students seem to be so shy. But I really, really need it..

  16. Margit

I’m there on Wednesday, how exciting.

And, Kobekid: I love your idea. I saw you’re in the Forum now as well, so maybe would you put up a thread on there, so we could discuss how to go ahead ! I am sure there are many teachers in japan to join, so there won’t be time problems, but of course, maybe we can go across oceans as well.

Hi Richard, I would love to see a webinar or skype to be able to pick your brain a little. It would be awesome to hear/see you to be able to get new ideas and help for different areas in the classroom. My skype name is ———, I’m not sure which one you’d have to look up.

  18. Kobekid

Good morning, just finished a class between my nephews in Texas and the students here near Kobe. Then this afternoon we will call Namibia and Skype with them. In one day these kids will talk live with students their age in the US and Africa… boggles my mind.

Margit, I guess that would be the way to get the ball rolling, although I would like to hear Richard’s thoughts on this. It would be fun to connect classrooms here in Japan that are using GE.

  19. Gumby

A skype exchange between classes sounds like loads of fun. Margit and I did a burger idea exchange. Even in the same country there were so many differences. It was a good chance for students to see what makes their own town/city unique.

I would love to get involved in this, too!

  20. Angela

I have figured out using http://www.worldtimebuddy.com/ that the call would be Tuesday the 12th of March at 7pm here in Mexico. πŸ™ I don’t think that would work out too well, but maybe next time. I was really excited about this too.

  21. Sarah

I am glad to hear that you want to teach us through the skype.

  22. Julia

    Hi Richard!

You said you would do another skype session for Europe, but I’d like to try and get on the call tomorrow.
I wonder if I could use type chat then?

And I vote for Skype exchange, too! It would raise my kids’ motivation greatly!

Wishing you best of luck whatever you do!

  23. Jennifer

Hi Richard, I AM SO INTERESTED! I would love a moment to pick your mind. πŸ™‚ only problem is I am in Spain. I will do my best to stay up, only problem is I have 3 babies and dont know if I can physically do it. :(.
I love your stuff, I am in the process of starting my own school, so all of your tips are really a big help. I plan on basing my self primarily with Genki English. Any help is a big help.
If I cant make it this weekend, when do you think you would be able to set up another Skype conference for those of us in Europe.
    Send you a big hug.
    Excellent idea!

    Hello.
I am looking forward to taking part in this!
)))Tomorrow is going to be an early morning rise for me (it will be 5am Moscow time) But I am READY!!! The only question is I have no idea how to do it technically. I use Skype and I have my Profile there. What should I do next? to find you on Skype? to register for this call?

    Thank you
