It seems that all these new new games I learnt from the ACET teachers, ย if you are in town do go and check out their meetings, it’s well worth it!
So today’s game I think was from Fukuko – oops, no it was Noriko sorry! –ย ย and we’re going to use it here with the Where are you going? ย theme.
1. ย Put all today’s flashcards on the floor.
2. Put the kids in two teams.
3. One kid picks one of the destinations and says “Let’s go to …. ” plus the card e.g. Let’s go to the beach or Let’s go home.
Ninja Tip: ย In the song they will have already naturally learnt when to say “the” so no need for any of those horrible-to-remember grammar rules!
4. Then they throw a ball into a bucket or basket. ย (Oops, forgot to tell you to prepare that ๐ )
5. ย If it goes in the basket everyone says “Good idea! ย Let’s go to the ….” ย and you pick up the card and get one point.
6. ย But if it doesn’t go in, everyone says “Oh no, bad idea!!!!!!!!!” ๐
7. ย Repeat from step 3 until all the cards are gone!
Ninja Tip: ย You can also use this to decide what activities to do in Summer Camp e.g. put cards for all the things you plan to do that day and play the game to decide what order you do them in!
Do let us know what you think in the comments!
I think this an excellent game. It’s easy and I’m sure pupils will have fun.I’ll try this after the summer holidays. We can also use this with sports like Let’s play basketballl, tennis, etc.
Thanks a lot.
This is a great game. I stumbled across playing a version of it last night. In my class we had the sentences. Do you want theseโฆ? Do you want thatโฆ? Do you want these glasses? Do you want that Hat? At school we have mini basketball hoops. I placed all the clothes flash cards in the corner of the room. The student whoโs go it was would run to the corner, pick up a card then run back to the hoop asked the question. Do you want these jeans? throw the ball. If it went in the other students would say. Yes, I do. If it missed they would say. No, I donโt.
Great idea! And it’s a good chance to teach “because” connecting with “What’s the weather like?” and “How much?” songs.
Thank you Richard!
Yeah, Fukuko!
P.S. How do change my icon from the sideways “G” to a picture of my choice?
Hi Craig, we were both wrong – it was Noriko! ๐
For the icon, it’s called a Gravatar and you can set it up at https://en.gravatar.com – it looks great when set up!
