New “Scratch n Sniff” Flashcards

==========================================

UPDATE:  It always pays to check the date of each blog post!

Hope it gave you a smile & I’ll have more cool (and real!) things for you this week!

==========================================

Wow, this is amazing! I don’t know if you’ve seen but Adobe have just today updated their “PDF” system to allow real authentic smells to be printed on a normal printer. You don’t need any special inks or paper or anything, just your normal everyday ink jet printer.

But… if you scratch the ink they actually give off smells!

Needless to say this is going to be amazing for Genki English flashcards so I’ve just made up two “scratch n sniff” sets just for you. They’re stil early versions so please let me know what you think.

“Animals” scratch n sniff picture cards

The first one is, of course, animals! We’ve got 12 animals including gorillas, giraffes and the best one of the lot smelly cows!

Occupations Scratch n Sniff Card: including authentic “plumber” and “builder” smells!

And I’ve also just finished a special set of 12 “jobs” picture cards. Again you don’t need any special inks or anything, you just print them out on your normal everyday ink jet printer (although I would recommend good quality paper if you are going to be scratching them a lot.)

So on the occupations one we have the real smell of, amongst others, a dentist’s office and authentic plumber and builder smells! Very cool, eh?

Anyway I hope to get more done in the future but just for today, and only today, I’m giving these first two sets away for free! No VIP members access or anything needed, just put a comment in the online version of this post and I’ll email them off to you.

I’m sure the kids are going to love these! What do you think?

UPDATE:  Wow, we’ve had a lot of comments.  Whilst I get round to emailing, here’s a free sample to get your started – gorgeous roast turkey! – oops, just double check the date of the post again!

If you can’t get it to work you might just need to change the settings on your PC, put a comment below telling us what computer you have and I’ll email you the correct settings to use!  And of course I’ll email you the full set.

Richard Graham

Hello, I'm Richard Graham. When I was a kid I found school to be sooooo boring... So I transformed my way of teaching. I listened to what the kids were really wanting to say and taught it in ways they really wanted to learn. The results were magical. Now I help teachers just like you teach amazing lessons and double your incomes!

    I can’t imagine how you can get the smell on the printed pictures. It must be a joke.

    And what about “Automatic interlingual educator” (C) system announced by Microsoft for those who enjoys Windows and has a webcam?

    They said that soon they will make a software able to detect children screaming and worrying the teacher, and calming them down in their native language, scaring them with the beasts and ghosts from their own culture.

  16. Natalya

    I wanted to leave a comment too, and then the date of all the previous comments fell in my eyes … “April 1st”!

    But I want to use the oppotunity to say:
    Richard I admire all you do! (Especially, what you have done within the last weeks), but also your hard work all the time. Sometimes, when I need inspiration, I come here and reread your blog and the comments and go back to work again with new ideas.
    Ganbare!

  22. Liza

    In about 2 week’s time, my school is going to the stadttheatre to see a performance of Hexe Huckla and her friend Mr. Mouse (and Witchy too). It’s a German-English lnaguage play. I’ve been practicing phrases from the script – What’s your favourite food? Do you like ..? Yes I do. No I don’t.

    One of Mr. Mouse’s favourite foods is …stinky cheese! I’ve been miming this by holding my nose and gasping for breath. This opens up a whole new oportunity for the kids. Next week we have animals, including cows. That should now be more fun to teach!

  23. Micki

    (-: It could be done. Minty fresh dentist office. Vanilla pastry cafe. “I want to go to the Lavender Fields of Furano.” A little essential oil and some imagination, and it could be a really stinky class (-:.

  24. Neil
