New Workbook Covers – Adventure to Experts!

You see, nice things do happen when you say nice words! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hugo was so impressed by everyone’s reaction to his workbook covers (and his origami!) that he has now done the first 5 full workbook covers.

They’re still the same evaluation sheets as you’ve been using before, ย but just now in curriculum order.

And of course with funky new, parent impressing, covers!

Do let us know what you think in the comments and we might persuade Hugo to do some more?

Maybe a Halloween one next time???

They are fantastic. Printing them out and making them into little workbooks for the kids is going to motivate everyone. When you are involved in a group like this you can help not only the kids you teach yourself but also all the kids and teachers around the world who use the materials. Nice work!

    Hugo,

    these are beautiful. Wonderful!

Now, Richard, how can I keep teaching in the order I prefer with these?

I want to and will use these beautiful pages in a different way, I just can’t ignore these, but I don’t want to teach in this sequence.

Could I have the choice to use either? Is it possible to get the old pdf to print the pages in CD order as so far?

  3. Margit

    @Hugo~

if I may be pushy and demanding~

I could really need the cover for “Halloween” right now.
I’m doing a test of all the Halloween topics with my 3rd graders, and want to give them a sticker for the topics they’re fine with.

This would come in just handy.

And~to keep going~ end of November, I’ll do the same for Christmas (wink)

    Hugo,
Fantastic covers!!! Make all of the levels please!

    Margit,
what order do you prefer? And, would please share how else you can use them?

The Christmas cover would be great to have too..

  5. gumby

Hugo, WOW! These are so great. I love the artwork and design. I think these would work with any curriculum. Maybe if you made up a second version without the pictures in the circles, teachers could add whatever theme they were doing….

Thanks again for such a wonderful resource!

  6. Margit

    @katya

I teach according to the needs of each class.
The first lessons of a new class are pretty set but then it really depends:

are the kids into sports I do a sports topic pretty early, are there into music I do the instrument topic earlier.

Also seasons play a role~so even if the class has just started, in their first summer I do the “under the sea” topic, as all Japanese kids go to the sea and will meet jellyfish and squids…

The “make a face” is a New Years Game in Japan, so this comes rather in winter.

    etc etc.

but no two classes of mine are exactly the same, so Richard knows I wouldn’T want a different curriculum order.
The only thing I’d love to keep is the simple print order as it was as an option.

    as for how to use them;
my kids are all on the online program.
Usually I give one topic per week, but with these sheets it will be easy to tell them to review, and even take a test.

    For example:

Next week we’ll test the “Adventure” topics.

The test would be, that they have to sing all the songs with gestures in Karaoke.
They stand as a class and sing, as soon as they forget a word and can’t sing a part the kid has to sit down.
Singing the whole song with gesture in Karaoke would get them a sticker or coloring in of the topic field on this sheet.

    Hi guys,
I’m happy that you’re enjoying the new covers ๐Ÿ™‚

    @Margit & Katya

The Halloween cover is on its way. As for the other covers I’ll try to make them all as time allows me to, my hope is to have everything done until the end of November.

    @gumby

I can make a 2nd version with just blank circles, other than that it might be difficult. but I have a suggestion that will hopefully help

@everyone that is struggling on how to use the covers in a different order of the curriculum

Try to look at it simply as the order the lessons appear on the website in order to make easier for everyone to find the them, instead of looking at it as a curriculum following order.

Once all the covers are done, print them all and give them to your students, then just do the lessons in the order that suits you. After you can just colour the circle or put a sticker in the lesson that was done.

By having all the covers with all the lessons, the students will be excited for the next lessons and to have all the circles coloured or with stickers.
You can actually use this the same way of the sticker card.

Hope this helps, I’m just trying to think on ways not change the covers once their done ๐Ÿ™‚

Please think and share your ideas too on ways to use this covers rather than having them changed ๐Ÿ™‚

    Cheers!

Comment and you shall receive, just look what Hugo sent me this morning …. ๐Ÿ™‚

They are so cool!!! Thanks… Really brings it all together!!!

  10. Margit

Oh! How beautiful! Wondering what software you are using~but hell~whatever software, no work for me. You’re a professional!

Anyway, Hugo, thanks a lot, also for the idea up there. This is indeed something to go for.

These will also help so much in elementary school where teachers just don’t know what is where. I will decorate the classroom with these!

    BTW Richard,

are the Origami Fortune Tellers also all on one page?

  11. Margit

    U!
    And -sorry~~~~
If you could make one (or maybe it needs 2 or 3) sheets like this for phonics, that would be fabulous.
Right now I’m using stickers to put on the backing cover of their phonics workbook
(s>>when they got this sound , i for this sound, etc)
They can draw pictures around the stickers and choose two stickers that aren’T letters, to create a fun picture. But it takes time, sometimes I ran out of the needed stickers and these stickers actually hinder when writing .

  12. gumby

    Hugo you are amazing!

Hugo, you mentioned stickers. May I ask if there are stickers the same size as the circles? I don’t remember seeing any?

  13. Gen

These are really great! Thanks for all your hard work. It’s lovely to have something fresh yet familiar! This will be a great motivator, and allow the parents to see their child’s progress in a graphic way.

  14. Gumby

What have others done for the stickers? At first, I thought stickers the same size would be perfect, they also would be much harder to cut….

Are there stickers of any shape for all the themes?

  15. Mido

    Hi man
Coo work. I like it very much
How still workbook still left ?
    Mido

  16. Barbara

Wow, fantastic!!! Thank you so much! I’m also interested in how to print the stickers ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. Drew

Hugo, Nice Halloween cover! Thank you for your generosity and time to create.

  18. Hugo

    @gumbi & Barbara

I did mention stickers but I wasnโ€™t referring to any in particular. If you wish to have the coloured circles in a sheet for stickers let me know. That should be easy.

    How I use this sheets?

1 – Each student gets the covers

2 – When the students get home after the lessons, they colour the circle of the learnt lesson themselves, of whatever percentage they think theyโ€™ve learned.

3 – We have the master cover sheets in the classroom that we colour ourselves when the students come back next week, what we do is check all the covers from the students and then colour the average on the master sheet.

We do this to reinforce the idea of working as a team and the results have been fantastic. The student are very honest when they colour the circles but Iโ€™m afraid that if there are stickers involved that might not be the case.

Anyway if want the stickers let me know ๐Ÿ™‚

    Cheers!

  19. gumby

Hugo, your idea of coloring in the circles in brilliant! I agree that this kind of activity with the kids couldn’t be done with stickers.

Personally I would still LOVE if you could make up a second version with blank circles! It gives a sense of completion when we can go through one cover page at time, without having to color in bit here and there. If I may make one more request, in this edition, also leave out the level numbers, so the teacher can choose the order of the pages, depending up their own curriculum.

Thank you again for sharing such a wonderful resource!

  20. Elvira

As for me I prefer to see the circles as they are – blank, for coloring in them! Thank you, Hugo!

  21. Margit

    @ Hugo

” If you wish to have the coloured circles in a sheet for stickers let me know. That should be easy.”

    >>I think this would be the best solution.

With stickers like that I also think, blank circles would be great.

  22. gadula

All covers are great! Any ideas where can I find a Christmas one??

  23. gadula

I’ve already started Christmas topics hence I’ve got just 1 lesson per week with some groups..looking for a Christmas workbook cover..

  24. gadula

Speaking of witch: stickers.. Is there any chance to print out those from this website but in a bit different size. Those I found next to each topic seem to be too small to cut out for little children and rather annoying to stick it in a right place. Have you had the same impression? or I am the only one moaning:)Im also very interested in stickers for workbook covers. Let me know if something appears ๐Ÿ™‚

  25. Barbara

Hi Gadula, actually, I have the same problem ๐Ÿ™‚ I tried to print them on a A4 label but I wasn’t able to use the little stickers. ๐Ÿ™‚
