Here’s a really different email I got the other day from Jeffrey down in Oita!
Here is our fine line of Rancho Lincko Pumpkins for 2009. We have been growing pumpkins at Rancho Lincko for seven years now. The original seeds came from a pumpkin my wife ordered from Hokkaido in October 1998. In the beginning none of our pumpkins were free-standing so we turned them upside down to make Jack-o-Lanterns.
Since then we have been selecting for shape and size and now produce batches of good-sitting gourds. Our record for size is 30 kg and, as you see in the picture, each year we have a selection between 1 and 15 kg. A 5kg. pumpkin makes a fine, medium, Jack-o-Lantern. We have none for sale this year but would like to know, if we did have Β next year, how many people would be interested in getting a pumpkin delivered to their door? If there is interest we will plant accordingly and take orders in the the summer of 2010.
Thanks,
Jeffrey Linck .
Would you be interested? Or not really? Answers in the comments please!
Nice looking pumpkin patch, most sincere (ask Linus).
I usually get mine from the Foreign Buyers Club in Kobe but would definitely order one from Oita.
What an awesome idea! I would order at least five, depending on the shipping cost…to Okinawa!
Kobe Kid,
I went to the FBC site and saw they have 15-25cm pumpkins. A 22cm pumpkin weighs about 4kg. On average I’d be talking 8-12kg, which is not the biggest in the picture but next door, a much bigger gourd. Just for reference could I ask how much it costs you to get one of the FBC puppies delivered?
I have never made Jack-o’-lantern and I’m very much interested in your great pumpkins. Even the smallest one looks big to me! Yes, I’d love to order.
If they are not too expensive, I’ll tell our classroom teachers too.
Of course I would like to have one! I really like them and I have never seen one like yours here in Mallorca but I think it’s a long way to send them to Spain. It would be very expensive. It’s a pity!
Maybe you could send me some seeds and I could grow them in my garden.I would be very grateful.
Why not, but I’m from France, so I think it’s not possible. And what price ?
This is a lovely pumpkin patch, yes I’ll love to have a pumpkin or two for next halloween(^-^).
