As a special Thanksgiving present, and to say thank you for supporting Genki English over the year, here’s special thanksgiving song for you!

Target Language: Thanksgiving, I’m thankful for ….
Target Grade: Kindergarten to Adults
This song is above or in the Teacher’s Set

Sing the song to find out what Baby Monkey is thankful for and then get the kids to write their own lists.  I purposely chose things that all kids in the world have, even in the most difficult circumstances.

This also works great as part of a “Success Education” course. Getting the kids to focus on what they are thankful for, rather than what new things they want to buy, really helps in raising the happiness of the kids.

(And yes, that is a turkey on the food page! I’ll leave it to you to decide how you deal with it!)

Lesson Plan 

As always with Genki English we have a very simple 123 lesson plan (after all, why make life complicated?)

1. Quick Warm up & Review 
2. Input with the song ( above ☝️  or in the Teacher’s Set if you want to download it without any ads
3. Output with a classroom game

You can do any of the vocab games from the games page or my favorite for this topic is very simple:

1. The kids draw a picture of something they are thankful for.
2. The present it to class with “I’m thankful for ….”

This will make them happier than anything else you do this year.
