Advanced Lesson Plans

Margit has sent in some great ideas on how she makes full (and quite successful!) lessons from the Genki English Advanced Hip Hop pack.

Download Margit’s ideas here in pdf.

Theย Hip Hop songs are proving really successful with more advanced learners, I might have to make some more!

If you have any tips or suggestions on how you use them, I’d love to hear them in the comments!

This is pretty useful, thanks! Where do you use these Margit, out of interest? Junior High school, or Elementary?

Looks like I’m going to JH for a year from April, so I need to start doing some research into this myself ~

Am working in a private school for the month of July , along with 20 or so other teachers doing the children’s English summer school. Every year there is a competition for the best song performance. I don’t like it much as the kids don’t learn much if anything from mimicking the latest popular song. So this year my class and I wrote our own song based on Better than the Best of the Best. We kept the chorus and a line or 2 from the original and then the kids wrote their own song with single syllable adjectives and we put in a bit on body parts by teaching “the wave” hip hop move (fingers, fist, wrist elbow, shoulder, chest, shoulder etc. try it out it’s fun). We won the competition and after the director and head of studies came and asked if they could take the idea and add it to their lessons as part of their course. So Genki! Please do do more of those songs.
