UPDATE: These workshops have all finished now, check out the latest ones here!
Things are shaping up for Genki English workshops this year. Am I in your city?
First of all there are workshops for 1,000 teachers in Thailand ( to support the One Tablet Per Child Programme)
April 22nd & 23rd: Northeast, Ubon Ratchathani
April 29th & 30th: North, Chiangmai
May 2nd & 3rd: Central, Nakhon Nayok
May 6th & 7th: South, Trang
May 9th & 10th : Northeast, Khon Kaen
If you’d like to join these then contact your local education office. Or of course you could organise a workshop in your area on the days off.
We’re also looking at China & Turkey in June, Yaroslavl, Russia in September, and maybe a TED talk (!) in Okinawa in November. Details coming soon or comment on this post if you are interested.
I’d also like to do a workshop in France at some point this year. For those of you in France, what cities and what time of year are best? Again please comment on this post.
Or for those of you elsewhere in the world, just get a group of teachers together (it doesn’t need to be 100s, sometimes even 12 works out) and either get in touch or put up a comment on the blog – here’s what can happen!
Be genki,
Richard
P.S. I’ve been in and out of the bush these last two weeks with very sporadic internet connections. If you haven’t received replies to any emails, please do send them again, not everything I’m sending is getting through eventhough I reply to them all!
P.P.S. The winner of January’s comment competition was …. Janice! If you’d like to win a Genki English CD (or CD Download) of your choice, just comment on the blog, I pick a random comment to win each month, the more you comment, the more chance you have to win!
Come to Turkey!
come to Madrid – the good weather’s coming in, the food’s good, the people are friendly and there are sooooo many english academies full of teachers who don’t have a clue what they’re doing. Spain needs you Richard!

Please come to okinawa!!!!!
Hi Richard, i’m in Thailand and i would like to join the workshop in Khon Kaen but i don’t work for a primary school therefore i can’t register at the regional office. Is it possible to participate as individual?
Hi Richard.
I have the same quastion as Dorcas
“Is it possible to participate as an individual?”
I’m an interpreter but have an interest in teaching. Your program is what I need. Yaroslavl is a neighbouring region to Vologda. Hard to believe this miracle, GenkiEnglish will be so close from here.
Hello Richard!
Looking forward to see you in September in Russia (I hope, it will be in Moscow 🙂 ). You’re methods are really great. I’ve watched almost all the videos from your workshops and bought the teacher’s pack! Yeah! It’s something soooo.. Genky 🙂
I don’t know, why my husband doesn’t like your songs, but as for me.. Oh my, I’d like to learn some new languages (ex. Spanish) your way.
But.. Now I have only one child, a 10 years girl, who I give private lessons. I’ve been thinking for a long time about genky games and other things, because I was completely sure I wouldn’t be able to do all this during one-to-one lessons. What can I say? At last I told myself “You can do it” (several times though 🙂 ), and I tried first 3 lessons. My pupil liked it, but at first was a bit embarrassed and looked at me with her eyes wide open. At our school all methods are so different from yours. For example, this girl didn’t know the whole alphabet when I started teaching her.. But at school they had homework with present tense and lots of words. How? How could she make simple sentences and write them (children have to write their homework) if she knew nothing?
Now we start from the very beginning, but she is happy. I help with her school homework and after that we sing songs, do warm-ups and so on. She is a very energetic child, so I have to change activities every 5-10 minutes or she will be bored and will start telling me stories in her own language.
So.. I’m waiting for you here in Moscow! Please, come and show our teachers that learning shouldn’t be so boring and difficult.
Jane from Moscow
Thanks for the comments everyone!
@Alexandra & Jane: You can indeed join the Yaroslavl workshop, email me your details and I’ll pass them on to Julia who is organising it!
@Dorcas: The current Thai workshops are organised by the Ministry of Education so is only for public school teachers. But … you could always get a group of friends together and organise one in your town if I’m nearby!
@Melissa: My TED talk will be in Okinawa in November! We’re trying to organise a GE workshop around that time too. Keep tuned in.
