Just travelling down to the beautiful island of Okinawa where it’s my TEDx talk tomorrow!
Pretty exciting.
And also a little nervous.
When I do regular workshops it’s all questions and answers, and I change everything according to the audience feedback.
Here though, as I’ve decided to do it in English, they will have simultaneous translations so I have to pretty much memorise what I’m going to say to the script I wrote – which is very tough!
Plus of course all the pressure from the amazing TED talks done by the people I work with in India and China – Sugata Mitra won the million dollar TED prize this year and I’ll be partly talking about the same project!
But thank you all for yourย amazing feedback in the last post!
Ok, fingers crossed!!!
Be genki,
Richard
Good luck !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m glad you’ve finally achieved the goal and hope everything will be done excellent by you!
All the best Richard, for TED talk tomorrow. Sure you will be ok!
Hi Richard!
I’m sure everything will be OK and your talk will be great!
And we are looking forward to seeing it!
Good luck from Yaroslavl!!
Good luck, man!
If you think you can do it, you can do it!
Just pretend all those people in fancy suits and ties that you’ll be talking in front of, are actually just just Japanese elementary school students.
You’ll be fine!
Mensore and good luck! Unfortunately, the event was not widely publicized and I missed the ticket lottery, so it’s a no-go for me.
I wish you the best of luck! The people at OIST are great and it’s a beautiful facility. Make sure you have plenty of space on your camera – this place is like none other.
I recommend Orion draft btw. Not the new wheat stuff.
We are so proud! Enjoy this opportunity.
Julie
Oops,
I thought it was on the 4th. Sorry~ and “Good luck” again!
And lucky enough to be in Okinawa!
As long as you are yourself I’m sure you’ll blow away the audience! Can’t wait to see it.
You will do great!!!
Any chance that it will be translated into Chinese?
When do we get to see it? ๐
Thank you everyone for the amazing comments – they helped so much! ๐
I just put up a few photos here: http://genkienglish.net/teaching/things-i-learnt-from-tedx/
Hopefully the video will be online soon, and yes I think translations are crowdsourced so if someone wants to add Chinese – or any other language! – I think that will be possible if it gets popular enough to get on the main TED.com site!
Well done Richard, you’ll be great and GENKI. Look forward to watching on YOUTUBE – please share link when available.
