Thank you! & New Days of the Week Songs!

Wow! Thank you for everyone who helped with choosing the font the other day, there were so many responses and I’ll get them all collated soon.  You saved me a lot of stress!

So how would you like the latest Days of the Week songs?   These songs are now the only hurdle to completing vol. 11.  So what do you think of these versions ….

Taking Margit’s request for a longer song, plus everyone’s suggestion of making it melodic (plus a trick from the numbers song to make it fun …) How about this…

1. “Sunday, Monday, Tuesday” (UPDATE: Edited to make it shorter!)

Then for teachers that want it genki as a full lesson with a question (admittedly the question most used by teachers than kids, but I guess that’s fine for this theme!) How about this as a traditional Genki format song as a follow up…

2. “What day is it today?”

Plus we get both starting on Monday & Sunday!

What do you think? Do we have it with these songs?
I’m also planning on including the techo house junior high version.

3. Techno Days of the Week

& I’d also like to include the funk version but might not have space. Would these also be good to have?

Let me know in the comments and I can finish work on vol. 11.  As with vol. 10 there will be a free beta test on the blog so keep your eyes peeled!  And thanks again for the other day, you’re great!

Wow Richard! I think you nailed it this time. The first song had a catchy tune to help remember the days, plus the missing Saturday that would even get the attention of the ‘too cool for this’ years.

Also the ‘What day is it today?’ is another one of those teacher requested phrases. Not the most needed phrase in my book, but one used almost everyday in my JHS classes and also one that shows up on exams.

Both get thumbs up from me!

I totally agree with Gumby! Great work Richard!

Great songs! I personally prefer “What day is it today” mostly because it starts with Monday, which I’ve found makes it easier for the kids to remember the sequence of the days. And because you also get the question structure + a catchy melody!
The techno version I think is lots of fun, especially with classes that tend to be a bit quiet in order to get them more genki!

Listening just now with my (10 year old) son in the room, his ears perked up during the ‘missing Saturday’ version. He thought it was funny…..at first, but then decided it went on a bit too long. I’m inclined to agree. Great idea, perhaps over stretched? (I don’t mean to sound too picky, but you do want feedback, right!?)

We both liked the question version. I’m expected to ask that question every lesson, so this could help with that.

The techno version is pretty challenging! Certainly would appeal to JHS kids, but got a bit confusing, even for me! Cool though.

I actually like the funky version possibly best of all. The stuttering effect should help fix the sounds in their heads and it’s got a great beat!

To be honest, we’re spoilt for choice! Any one would be great, so to have all of ’em, well…….WOW!

The techno Days of the week

Well, You hit the nail in the head. I liked it very much. sometimes it’s necessary to put the students into a confusion state in order for them to learn and to test how much things retained in their memory.
    Keep up the good work.

For older kids or adults (or kids with parents of a certain age) I like The Cure ‘Friday I’m In Love’

Please forgive my ignorance, but I’m a new teacher here. Could someone please tell me where I can actually hear the beta version of the days of the week song? It seems y’all have allready listened to it.

    Thank you everyone!
@Julian: I’ve just edited to the file to make it 6 instead of 8. Is it better now?

@Dan: Welcome to the blog! The songs are up as a bonus for members who can just click on the links above to get the mp3s. Membership is included free with the Teacher’s Sets!

Really!? Ha ha! I just told my son that you changed it upon his recommendation and he is REALLY IMPRESSED!!!

We listened to the new one and it is thumbs up all round.

    Love it!

The techno version is too cool. If nothing else I want to listen to it at home while I work.

Hi Richard and of course all the teachers who have your materials.
If I were you I´d put the three.
The first for my smallest pupils ( 3 to 7 years old)
The second for my middle age students ( 7 to 9 years old)
The third one for the biggest in order to revise, have fun and of course to learn ( people who comes from other countries when school is nearly finish).
Thank you to you for sharing your knowledge with us.

Thanks for all the chioses, Richard!!! If al all possible, I woild love to see ALL of them on the new CD.They all focus on different things and it would be something for every age. (I can see the JHS liking the Techno song, it is cool and challenging. The Funky one repeat the sound of the first letter and uses When? e.g.When shall we play? On Monday. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday makes them pay attention and the last one uses the phrase What day is it today? Maybe not the most used question, but good to know.)
Thanks for all the hard work Richard!

    Hi,
I think any song start with Monday would be great.

  14. Margit

    Super duper best great marvelous!

If they don’t fit on the CD could you maybe squeeze one of them into the Hip-Hop site?!

  15. Elena

Techno version is really memorising as my students say.
And I like “Sunday Monday Tuesday” song. But I’d appreciate it starting with Monday.

I would skip on funky version though.

    Anyway, great work :0)
