North & South: Even more fun! + Game

One to file away in the “Why didn’t I think of that!” genius ideas, here’s Margit’s kids doing the North & South song.

Blindfolded.  With a map.   Check out all the laughter.  And Margit has even included a very cool game for you to try too.

What do you think?  Do let us know in the comments!

Ninja Tip:  This lesson is fantastic for countries where students need pronunciation help with  “th” and/or “s”    Just look at all those “th”s and “s”s in the lyrics – especially “South!”

P.S.  The winner of last month’s comment competition was …..   Emmanuelle!     This month’s competition is now on, so if you’d like the chance to win a Genki English volume download of your choice (or Genki Japanese or Genki German or Genki Relax) then get commenting on the blog,  each month one comment is picked at random to be the winner.

Update:  Emmanuelle’s email seemed familiar, and this is actually the second time to win this year – the more posts you comment on the more chance you have of winning! 🙂   (Plus we really like it when you comment on our games, activities etc.   🙂 )

Looks great! Lots of repetition and fun!

The kids were enjoying themselves and I really liked the movements but the song was hard to hear. What was the teacher trying to get the kids to put on the map? I think she said something about ‘treasure’? but not sure so no idea what the game was.

I saw this idea on Margit’s blog. I love the movements with the song. It is very simple, yet lots of fun and a good way to physically remember the different directions.

Hi Annette, yeah it’s treasure (they were preparing it as part of the Bremen Musicians presentation)

    1. One kid puts the treasure on the board.
    2. The others have to guide them there using North, South, East and West.

    Very simple!
