Lots of people have been asking for a “3rd person s” song i.e. going from “I eat” to “She/He eats.”
And thanks to everyone’s help last year – thank you! – this year we’ve got a brilliant way to teach it with Santa, just what does he do?
Well, he …..s and ……s and …….s
You can find the song on the new Vol. 14 and in the Teacher’s Set.
Lesson Plan & Recommended Game
1. You can teach nearly all the vocab in the How many days till Christmas? lesson first, then here we’re making it really simple and just introduce the He ….s form.
2. Go through the song as usual, get the kids to come up with some funky cool gestures.
3. For the game, do a presentation activity where the kids think of what Santa does (maybe adding some daily routines??) and then they present their Santa Day to the class!
Here are the A4 flashcards:
And mini cards!
UPDATE : And the picture book has been added to the software!
And Evaluation Worksheet/Workbook
Try it yourself!
And if you’d like to experience what it’s like as a student to learn this song, check out the Genki French version below!
Wow, this is a great addition.
Hi Richard, nice work! The song was fine. I guess you haven’t put any sound on the Words 1 & 2 yet. In Words 2, the animation of Santa eating cookies is obscured by the reindeer. I’m looking forward to the completed version – keep up the good work!
Thank you! I’ll try and work on the other bits of the software ASAP! 🙂
Nice, simple song with catchy lyrics that the kids will find easy to repeat. Perhaps not quite as ‘christmassy’ sounding as some others but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
I like it!
Thanks Richard!
Hi Richard great stuff just one remark, when every comes up once we can’t see the y and it comes only up later. It’s in the middle of the song.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of the song.
Merry Christmas!

I love the song! It’s fantastic! On Monday I will sing it with my pupils!
Hi Richard,
excellent work, as ever. I like the song and my pupils, too. It’s fun, sticky and it works very good in my Christmas lesson. Fantastic for the third person of singular and I’d like to have de mini cards to practise de game shown in “how many days till Christmas” song. Good idea to make groups with this game. I’m going to do it in the next days. Thank you very much! And have a nice Christmas break!
Elena
Thanks for the amazing feedback everyone!
You got me inspired to add in sounds for Words & Words 2, the computer game and the karaoke!
(Plus fixed the overlapping reindeer & missing “everys” – Thank you!!)

Now, does anyone want the pdf picture book???
Picture books in the software are a big hit with my classes…seems they prefer them to even the songs…strange, but okay!
Sorry for the spammy nature of these comments! I just checked out the software for this song. Great work.
You included the avatar upgrading in the game! SO COOL!!!
Are you going to add the words on the words 1 or just have the numbers to click on?
Excellent–I like it. I see no mistakes. I only had trouble quitting–it wouldn’t let me get out of the program.
Just added the narrated Picture Book!

Hi..thanks a lot,..to be personally honest I don’t think the music/ tune is as catchy as “normal”, then again it might be me..!!..going to try it out with my genius class (7/8 year old)this afternoon…they will let me know..and I’ll pass on the results!
Hi Richard, just LOVE the new What does Santa do song. As a VIP member I tried to download it, but it seems to be impossible. Please help me out, I would love to sing the song today and tomorrow before the holidays!!
thanks and merry Xmas!
Evelyne from France
@Astrid: How did it go?
@Evelyne: What error message are you getting?
I have an Apple and when I download the link I don’t find the mp3
Hi Evelyne,
It’s not an mp3, it’s the animation “.SWF” file.
So drag it across to Safari and you’ll be able to enjoy it (even offline!)
Thanks Richard! I was just wondering if I could put the song on my Iphone…
Apple still won’t allow it unfortunately!! 🙁 Maybe next year!
That’s toooooo sad!! And I don’t have Internet in my classroom. Maybe next year! Thanks for helping me.
Evelyne
Evelyne,
You don’t need to have internet access to use the software. Just open up Safari and drag the file to the window.
Hi Richard,Thank you! I like it.
excellent work
Merry Christmas!
We’ve already finished our Christmas show but this will be great for next year!
I’ve used three of GE’s songs for my grade 1 Xmas show and it was excellent! GE rocks!
Thank you!
Mele Kalikimaka!
Hi Richard,
I can’t seem to find the evaluation sheets which go along with that song.
I don’t have access to internet in the classroom and tried safari on my Polaroid tablet but it doesn’t seem to work either.
I will try to retrieve the laptop from the English Room and download from home though.
Emmanuelle
Hi Emmanuelle, I just made you up the evaluation worksheet:
For the software it works on either Mac, PC, Windows tablets or Android tablets with the Dolphin browser!
Enjoy!
Hi Richard,
I ‘ve downloaded the mini-cards to start teaching the kids the vocabulary.
But I can’t seem to download or ” save as ” the song.
What can I do to solve this problem?
If you’re on a PC just right click on the link, or if you’re on a Mac either “two finger click” or press the Command key and click!
Richard, I have chosen this song to work on Christmas with 3rd graders. I’ll present it next week, but I’m pretty sure they’ll love it!
Would it be possible to have the mp3 song of the karaoke version? Thanks in advanced.
@Veronica: I haven’t prepared the karaoke mp3 yet. Just out of interest, how would you use it?
Hi, Richard. Thanks for answering. Well, 3rd graders will sing the song at the Xmas concert. :o)
Cool, no worries, just run the regular version with the voices and animations. The kids will always be louder than the recorded vocals anyway! ( I mix them like that!)
I love this! It is fun, obviously Christmassy but the language and grammar are actually useful!I will scream If I hear one more Italian child singing ‘jingle all the way’ , or ‘oh what fun it is to ride on a one horse open sleigh’, which they don’t really sing, they just mumble because they have no idea what they are actually singing!!
Brilliant stuff, these Christmas lessons are pretty exceptional!
Awesome stuff as always
