Whey, I love it! The GE picture books are all such a huge hit with my students – I cant wait to use this one too!

  2. cj

I love Grandma Monkey’s new pink hair. Let’s watch the animals is my favorite page. Do you have anymore picture books in the works? I’m always looking for books for my beginners. My beginners love Baby Monkey. S/he has become an important member of the class.

The only one I’m looking at at the moment is for “I’m a superhero”. If you have requests for other themes it might motivate me to look at them!

Glad the kids like Baby Monkey!

  4. Julian-k

Actually I have a request. Something for “where” .”Where are you going” or “where do you live” (or a combination of the two! These are by far my favorite themes to teach – it’d be great to have book to go with it.

  5. richard

    Thanks for the request!

I thought about doing the Comic Poster ( http://genkienglish.net/teaching/baby-monkeys-travels-colours ) as a picture book. Then on a final page you’d ask “Where is Baby Monkey?” or “Where are you?” and then you’d think about it….. think about it….. think about it…… then pull out a Baby Monkey picture card and say “Here!”

    What do you reckon?

  6. Julian-k

I reckon it’s a great idea! The poster is fantastic, but presented in book form would be so much more versatile.

Maybe with a bit of prep I could post a picture at the back of the class and do a “He’s behind you!” stunt. It’d either get laughs or sighs !

  7. Margit

Great, thanks a lot! This was what I was wanting for sooo long: weather linked with “let’s…”

    Julian-k,
I also love the “Where” themes and am looking forward to the “pull out book”

  8. richard

    Just updated the post above!

  9. Julian-k

Whey, brilliant! Thanks so much! Actually I think I might print out a book, but also a set of flashcards. They’ll be really great for teaching cities!

  10. Gumby

Richard, another winner! (TWO winners!) The books are also a favorite for me and my schools. As for other themes, (Breakfast – you could combine the animals plus photos of what they eat), What are you doing? and rooms of the house (I’m sleeping in the bathroom!)

    Again thanks for the books!

  11. Gumby

Richard, I don’t suppose you have a “How’s the weather?” version? I know you are shaking your head, but it is “the way” it is taught in Japan.

  12. richard

I was waiting to see who would ask first! πŸ™‚

It’s on my list for tomorrow.

  13. richard

Uploaded! That’s probably the first thing I’ve done this week that’s taken less time than I though!

  14. Carol

Richard they are fantastic!! I can’t wait to use them! I really like how you treated the weather theme… I was expecting clothes in there somewhere too the first time round, but the activities are sorely needed! Thanks!

I’m, too, waiting for the adventures of Genkiman!

I also noticed Gaz’ name in ‘lights’… Bravo Gaz!!

  15. Gumby

That was amazingly fast. Thank you!

  16. Yumiko

Sugoi!!! in various meanings; ideas, graphics and fast work. Amazing!!

Are these picture books going to talk? I hope so!

  17. Margit

    wow!
    Work for the Mr Printer!
    Thanks!

Hi Richard, I am a new user!! I have many questions to ask:

    1) I do not know my id yet.

    2) Why the weather picture book cannot be found under the WEATHER theme lesson materials?? When i search the blog, i accidentally found it in the blog

    3) when i download posters, i cannot download, what’s wrong what is .swf file, it seems i cannot download those .swf file

    4) I want to know are all CDS 1-9 have lesson plans and materials come with it?? Is there any webpage i can associate each CD lesson plans & materials.

    5) How many songs together from CD1 to 9?

  19. michelle

    Hi Richard,

Is it possible to see some sample GRAMMAR pages of the advance English songs ie. I i had a millionaire…etc..

  20. richard

@Yumiko: Seeing as everyone seems to like them then I will get to work on the talking versions. Although is it better to make them talking Youtube videos instead?

@Michelle: Welcome to the blog! Here are the answers:
    1) Have a look at the email you got with the download pack, it will tell you in there what your id is.

    2) This book is brand new, I just made it today! Over here on the blog you’ll find lots of new and experimental stuff. Then if people find it useful – like they obviously have today – I’ll get it all edited up and added to the main theme pages.

    3) Some of the older files are swf (from the days when pdf crashed computers!), they should pop up OK, but Internet Explorer might give you a security warning. Just click OK and you should be fine.

    4) Yes all the CDs have lesson plans and materials. Just use the “Songs/Themes” menu at the top of this page or have a look at http://genkienglish.net/songs.htm

    5) There are around 70 themes on all the CDs, although some of the themes have more than one song. Plus there are lots of extra online songs for members on the “Beta Test” page of the forum!

For the Advanced songs have a look at the workbook here: http://genkienglish.net/teaching/new-workbook-sheets

Let me know if you have any more questions!

  21. Yumiko

Ah, talking Youtube videos would be great!

Does it what you mean? I’m not familiar with technology, maybe I’m away from the point.

  22. Peggy Alt

Yeah for new books. With the weather book, ask students to predict what baby monkey thinks would be “cool” to do in that weather.

Or ask students to come up with what would be “cool” for them to do in that weather.

What would be “cool” to do in country X.

Act out the book / role play.

  23. Luz

I love it. Thanks a lot. I’ll let you know what do my students thiko about it.

  24. Margit

    Richard,

would it be possible to get the “Where is Baby Monkey” with Baby Monkey, where are you from?” or only “Where are you from?”
The pictures can be the same.

    Just in case:
If there’s anything else you’re about to bring out, in Japan this week is “flue-holiday” for many cities, so I would have lots of time for printing. I did a big bunch today!!!

  25. Tracey

    Hi Richard,

Just a quick congrats to you for another great workbook. Fantastic pictures and the cloud /watching animals page is brilliant. I think I will take my students outside one day soon and ask them to do the same. Great activity, especially as we are coming to the end of the school year here in Hungary!

  26. June

Great! I was just teaching my kids the weather!

But, sorry! I’m an American Kikokushijo and I’m not used to “What’s the weather like?”

I was about to ask you if you would make the “How’s the weather?” version and there it is!!!

    Thanks, always, Richard!
