Warsaw Workshop Recap – Amazing!

IMG_7259

You know whenever you go to a workshop there’s always one teacher.    The super, uber genki crazy one who does amazing things with her students.

Well just imagine a whole room full of them!

That was today’s workshop.   Everyone was amazing, knew everything about Genki English, could understand my English at full speed (I’ve never had that outside native speaker workshops before!) and it was the most perfect, super smooth set of workshops you could imagine!

So thank you to everyone for being so amazing and making my first experience in Poland such a positive one.

Here is a little of what we did:

Day 1:

The Agreement to get the discipline right.

Disco Warm + Rule no.1 ” I can do it!”

A little Power Teaching

Vocal Warm Up to protect your voice.

What’s your name? + stopwatch game + Rule No.2 “Try again!”

How much? and the bargaining game

Of course the Superhero

Smooth curriculum building with Eat Drink Dance, leading into What do you want to do? (with the I like everything game) and changing just one word to get What do you want to be? (with the Sticky Fingers game)

Finally leading into “What do you want to be for Halloween?” with the Harry Potter Game

How much English to teach and the top 100 words.

Introducing past tense with one word using Summer Sports and the “And But” gesture game.

The irregular past with Baby Dinosaur, what did you do?

Finally we moved on to some of the advanced material with Better than the best and I have to I can.

We finished off with Little Red Riding Hood Daily Routines and Malala’s Speech.

Day 2:

We started off with a very Genki Good Morning

Then taking it simple with numbers with the unlucky 13 game and thumb sumo.

Then into Months of the Year with the unlucky 13th month game and getting everyone into month order for the new seats!

I like animals.

If the internet had worked properly I wanted to go through the ASL Vegetables so you can see how to use ASL to teach grammar.

Whilst we were waiting for the net to work,  we had mini card games for small groups with Karuta, Leapfrog Game, Matching Pairs and Island Hopping.

To stagger the coffee break we played How many days till Christmas?  with the Santa’s Helpers game.

Then before lunch we then launched into Where is it?  and I am a Robot so that we could do the 5 Minute Phonics.

After lunch I tried to cram in as much of the 10x Your Income Coaching Program as I could in one hour ( hope it wasn’t too much!)

Then the Star Wars Game – with Left & Right in Japanese

A little Michel Thomas for learning Polish.

And the Thanksgiving Song to finish off.

A few other things I wanted to do but didn’t get time were:

So there you go,  that was probably the fastest, most content I’ve ever done in 2 days.

It was so amazing to finally meet you all and to hear all your amazing success stories of teaching with Genki English.

I don’t think we’ll be back in Warsaw anytime soon (far too expensive – more expensive than Tokyo! 🙂 ) But I’m 100% sure that I’ll be back at Poland at some point in the future!!

So let’s get the word out to more teachers in Poland and get all the kids over here super, super genki!!! 🙂

Thank you everyone, keep in touch, write in your comments and you’ve certainly set a very high bar for the teachers in Kiev this coming weekend! 🙂

Be genki,

Richard

P.S.  You know it’s going to be a genki day when there’s a superhero car parked in the car park!

Thank you Richard. You’re really amazing and in the same time so authentic.
And the photo of my car also made my day Genki 🙂

It really was an amazing 2 days in Poland, jam-packed with sooooo much practical material. I am still chewing on the new stuff and trying things out on my pupils…. so far it has made a big difference to my teaching, especially regarding discipline issues and being more ‘confident and energetic’ in the classroom. Being around Richard definitely rubbed off on me! I hope there will be more workshops in Europe in the near future and if there is any chance of having a workshop in Prague I could definitely recommend a very nice but inexpensive venue. Many thanks to Richard and the wonderful Polish group in Warsaw!

Everybody was soooo wonderful and genki and Richard’s positive energy is infectious :). I’m going to spread my wings and bring all I’ve been taught into effect. I’ve already started :). Waiting for next workshops!

It’s such a shame that I didn’t know about the workshop in Poland:( It must have been amazing to get to know you and the way you teach. I’ve been admiring your work for quite long time and it feel like a spolit opportunity..but I hope it’s not the last time you visited Poland and I will have another chance to get to know Genki English:) regards
